I believe the entire D will benefit, although it may take the 2018 off-season to acquire the remaining players to fill Wade Phillips depth chart with 'his' particular system players for the biggest potential impact. Offensively, bad enough facing 4-3 defenses, the Rams played even worse against 3-4 base defenses, they looked absolutely overwhelmed at times, clueless even, whether it was poor coaching or poor player athleticism or preparedness, it was tough to watch at times. Our revamped McVay/Kromer offense practicing against this outstanding defense should improve our abilities greatly. Opposing QB's are going to be terrorized having to face both Donald & Quinn coming from the blind side simultaneously, Brockers or Walker penetrating from the Nose & Easley/Barwin from the left is going to cause fits. The opposition won't know who to double team with so much talent getting after them. Then they get Ogletree & Barron playing the middle, ... pockets will be collapsed and QB's will be chased from one side to another trying to avoid sacks and hopefully trying to find receivers coming back to them. Sacks & QB hurry numbers should be off the chart with this front 7. I'm really liking our depth behind the starters in the front 7 also. Can't wait to see how the young guys perform in camp. Our solid group of DB's should have their best year in ages with interceptions & knock downs. And our SS could act as a 5'th attacking LB or QB spy at times when not in coverage mode. Should be real fun if they execute according to plan. With a somewhat improved offense, this D shouldn't be as exhausted or winded come the 4'th quarter as often seen in the past. More close games will fall our way, and Bones will be sure to keep winning the special teams yardage gained battles. I fully expect our defensive stats to improve a good deal over last season, hopefully a lot less of Fisher's less than successful 'bend but not break' D and what became known as our conservative 'prevent offense' garnering 3 and outs as standard procedure. I want an aggressive O and D, taking no prisoners. jmo.
