I doubt that Stafford retiring after this season would relieve any cap space. More likely there would be a load of dead cap money.
Yeah, it would take a year to get his cap number down. Any extension would include a void year and that would probably be half his cap number while playing. Probably north of $20M.

Well the Rams could recover some of the money previously paid as a signing bonus, which would technically offer some relief. Hasnt been their way though, which is great

AD has been on the books a couple of years. I would say Stafford would get the same treatment. Lifetime rams.

Are we sure pickens signed? As of yesterday morning the pundits were talking as if he had not.

I double checked on line (been known to report misleading or false information), when I searched his name all the articles stated he signed his one year 27mil contract.

This chaos is likely a typical day at Cowboys HQ.

He had to sign the tag to be traded. It’s as simple as that.
Right, but the move has been where the player refuses to sign the tender until a trade or new contract is worked out. That's been the leverage play with the disgruntled tag guys.

Yeah it is weird that Pickens signed the Tag when he clearly wants out.
