Here's PFF on the matter

Yes, the value of a first-round pick is significantly higher when used to trade for or draft a quarterback compared to any other position. Due to the scarcity of top-tier talent and the massive financial benefit of a rookie-scale contract for a premium position, QB trades often command multiple high picks, far exceeding the value of non-QB picks in trade charts.
PFF
PFF +1
Why Quarterback Trades Command Higher Value
  • Positional Scarcity & Impact: Quarterback is the most important position, often demanding multiple first-round picks for a single top-10 pick in draft-day trades.
  • Economic Value: According to PFF's analysis, drafting a quarterback who performs well early allows a team to avoid paying high market rates, maximizing cap space, unlike positions like running back or safety, which have lower positional value.
  • Trade Market Data: In a study of 14 trades, teams trading for a quarterback received higher value than the standard draft pick value, with an average, positive differential of roughly the equivalent of the 22nd overall selection, say CBS Sports.
  • Increased Demand: Even when teams trade up, they often pay an premium, often sacrificing future, premium picks.

Thread Title: Get The Jets On The Phone And Dont Hang Up Til There’s A Deal.

Post: We MUST exhaust all avenues, make every possible attempt to trade for and select with the 2nd (or 3rd) overall pick RB Jeremiah Love. This guy is an impact player along the lines of recent players Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey (these guys go to Super Bowls) and past players Marshall Faulk and Walter Payton (HOFers). Also, if we got Love, Stafford would play another 3 years probably.

How can we get him: offer the Jets Pick 13, Byron Young (Jets need Edge and were drafting one at 2), the compensation from us dealing Kyren or Corum, and spare change if necessary. Or: Pick 13, and Jared Verse. Young and Verse are both about to get paid and we could do without paying one of 'em. We also have very promising Josiah Stewart ready to step into the void. Plus we would have Love at 4 years and relatively cheap money. Kyren is great, but we need a "HOME-RUN HITTER" like Love at RB. Like I stated, it would add year or years to Stafford's careeer.

Hall of Fame level talent that would probably win us a Super Bowl, Jeremiah Love.

And if we can't acquire him because other teams don't want to lose him themselves, at least I would like to be able to say "at least we tried."

And this is also not to say that we can't win the Super Bowl if we don't acquire him. Would love to hear what everyone thinks.

I repeat, get the New York Jets on the phone and don't hang up.
Think it would be cheaper to try and pry Achane away from the Phins before either of these 2 deals. Dude averaged 5.7 yards a carry playing for the fucking Dolphins. He may be 2,000 yard RB in a Rams uniform. They say he is NOT for sale, they are in a total rebuild and the right pick (#13) might do the trick. Already has done what people THINK Love will do.

Been thinking, have we backed ourselves into a metaphorical corner at WR 3 ahead of the draft? We legit have to draft 1, likely with 1 of our first 2 picks. I honestly don't think there is a chance we head into the season with Mumpfield as our 3rd WR with our top 2 guys on the higher likelihood side of missing games. When either sits, we suffer and its apparent.

Sure, there are some vets still in FA, but they are almost exclusively older, too expensive for us (Jennings), or not even an improvement.

BPA might just mean the best WR available. It doesn't have to happen with 13, but I'd feel pretty nervous if it didn't happen with our 2nd rounder.
And Mump wasn't even our 3rd receiver last year, it was Xavier though I fully expect Mump to take a leap, just maybe not enough to be a high end three (he may mostly be best served in a Z dominate role too).

Not a good comparison. If I want Achane I've already got Kyren Williams who is close enough to him. Love is in a different stratosphere. Also, I get 4 cheap years of Love, Achane has 1 cheap year left, IF that.

I believe it would be a great thing to get a WR3 and more talent overall at the skill positions, but I feel the board is definitely overstating the need.

We had the #1 offense last year with Puka and Adams as the only really talented WRs. Sure, there is concern if they get injured, but no more so than critical injuries at other positions, such as QB and OT.

At least with WR, we can go much more 13 personnel and still be productive.

I put a swing OT as just as high a need. Probably should be higher because we've seen what happens if Stafford isn't protected.
Kind of think Fano is in play at 13. Honestly, he would be pretty perfect for our team this season. Has the ability to back up OT, OG, and C. Would hurt badly to miss out on one of the stud WR's however.

Dude, with no disrespect intended, this is nuts. We sell the farm to move up to draft a RB while causing a massive hole at (arguably) a vastly more important position of Edge? I very much love Love (lol) and think he would be great on our team, however, we currently have a well above average rushing attack. Trading Verse or BY with no discernible avenue to fill that hole would be a disaster IMO. I like Stewart, but he already plays a very important role. We would essentially lose all valuable picks in this draft and a above average edge, for a RB. I'll pass hard.

Now, if he falls to 7 and the Saints are open, I could talk to them about it, but still would not love that either. Just don't see a feasible option to add Love and not deplete our SB ready team.

I can fully understand not wanting to make the trade up but just know that he is not getting to 7, dosent get past 4, IMO. And I'm not so sure it's "the farm." Do you know for sure Rams are planning on extending BY? And Verse is starting to give me Kevin Carter vibes. And thats NOT a compliment. But let me be clear, not looking to dump Verse.

Love is an IMPACT RB. Think Faulk, Saquon.

Again, I fully understand anyone not wanting to pay this price. I'm kind of just thinking out loud because I think if we got Love we would truly be GSOT again. That's with no disrespect to Kyren and Corum.

Yeah, I see Fano being in play, too, especially if the Rams feel he can play all three of those positions. That versatility would be amazing.

I think Mauigoa and Ioane could be in play, too.

Unpopular opinion. Everybody seems to love this WR class, but I question whether we would be missing a "stud" WR. I feel there are some WRs in this class that will be good, but I'm not so sure there will be many that are all-pro/pro bowl/elite studs.

And this is the main reason I've been pushing Love. He might be the only serious offensive weapon besides Tate.

I get your perspective. If we want an elite skill player, we can't stay at 13. But moving up to 2 for Love will cost the equivalent of three 1sts per the trade chart.

Assuming Verse is worth a mid-1st like pick 20, moving to #2 would require 13, Verse, and a 2027 1st. IMO, that's reckless.

If we're gonna move up, I think it would be Tate. He has a chance to be elite and you wouldn't have to go up to 2 or 3.
