Food for thought on the pick-dealing Rams

If the Rams move up in the draft, here's something to keep in mind. Recall when the Rams traded for Trent McDuffie and sent their 2026 late first rounder and a 2027 third-round pick to Kansas City? A source pointed out to me then that the Rams are not operating like they no longer have a third in next year's draft. They may even feel certain they will have one.

When Mike LaFleur left L.A. to become the Cardinals head coach, the Rams promoted Nate Scheelhaase to OC. Scheelhaase is widely considered to be at the top of the next-up list for head coach candidates -- he nearly got a job this past cycle -- and the Rams losing him would result in third-round picks in the following two drafts because he is mixed race.

You can't deal compensatory picks you don't have in hand, but you can operate as though they are coming.

This roster has very few holes. How about we take a WR at 13, then package a bunch of picks to move up an take Simpson at the bottom of the first? We have seven picks. We can eff a few away for our future QB.

Don't think they have the draft capital to do that.

After their 1st round pick, the Rams select at #61 and #93.
After that, their remaining picks are all in the 200s.

Not nearly enough for a late-1st.

So they would need to add 2027 draft choices ... probably their 1st because it would project to a late-rounder.

I guess paying attention to what others actually said is tough to ask at this time of year.
Puka is irrelevant to what was said that started this little conversation. @DzRams had posted, "Snead said that it will be hard for any rookie to immediately contribute on this team..." So unless you are saying Puka is a rookie, it is silly to bring him in
I was paying attention but even after explaining why I said what I said, you still misinterpret it. Can't help you understand it further at this point. It isn't silly to talk about how Puka came in as a rookie and no one could have predicted how great he'd be. I'm simply talking about how no one can ever predict an impact any rookie can have on any team and simply used Puka as an example when he was a rookie. Aw well

I think there's an argument for this.

One for which you haven't made.

You think you'd be able to do that if you thought that a guy falling or a player like Tyson taken before him was "retarded."
You're talking about the consensus top player vs the most polarized player because of injury questions. Its ok, you just don't get it. I'm simply telling you I'm not going to waste time explaining why you're way off in my opinion, but hey do you. I'll just do this, who would everyone on this board rather draft if we had a choice, Love or Tyson?

People on this board seem to have this problem with "not getting" you. The Puka discussion right now comes to mind.

I agree, I don't get calling Tyson going above Love "retarded."

You absolutely don't have to put the time in to explain. It's just a message board.

Wow, is that really your angle that "people" on this board don't get me? Tell me its not getting to you without saying its getting to you lol ....Sorry, but yes, in my eyes, it's retarded to draft a player with questions vs a clean prospect that is considered the best player. Like I said, stay doing you. Seeing eye to eye with every single post/poster is never going to happen and that's ok with me. Maybe you need to get comfortable with that reality?
