The team isn't any better after the draft than it was before. None of the players drafted will have any sort of impact this year. Biggest needs were WR, ILB, and special team players. None of those have been addressed. We drafted a #3 QB and #3 TE with our first two picks. We are one Puka/Adams injury from the season going down the drain.

Honestly don't agree with that. Klare and Trost were great picks in terms of actual value, Daniels and Keenan were excellent picks for where they were picked, and while I didn't agree with the Simpson pick, he's easily QB#2 right now because Bennett is awful and was an awful pick the moment he was made in the fourth round.

The draft hinges on Simpson, true, but it could be a turning point in our organization's future. We draft for future as well as the current day - and there's still the possibility we trade 2027 draft capital for a player outside of the organization.

And the fourth and fifth round picks this year. Even with all that draft capital given up, I'd say McDuffie will be better than any player picked at those slots.
I think it was a 5th & 6th this year. The 4th went for last yrs trade up for Ty Hamilton.

You're right. Made a mistake. Still, the picks are worse than what I thought, which just makes this trade even better.

Who did you want them to take?

I think maybe people have unrealistic expectations wrt the draft. Instant-impact players are rare and college to the NFL is a leap. Year one is providing depth and getting acclimated for nearly every rookie.

Which player would you have drafted? and which one of our starters are you replacing with said player?
Really, there were 4 positions we needed, not just the 3 you mentioned -- CB was need #1, way more than WR, ILB & ST. So, we used pick #29 & a few more to get a certified All-Pro CB. Said CB is also fantastic in run support, a much needed add now that Love is in the air... twice this year. So we used a draft pick to get much better than it was before.
The other 3 positions were indeed "needs", but all 3 could be / have been addressed with later picks, because none of them would "start" right away. Even if we used #13 to get Lemon, KC or Cooper, there's a good chance they'd get less than 50% of the WR snaps per game. (you think that'd sit well w/ Lemon? yikes, good luck w/ that guy Iggles.)

Biggest dissapointment, or I should say one of the the things that they didnt improve was speed on STs. Whether its coverage or on returns, no one will impact STs ftom this class.

Now, they still have college FAs to sign. Maybe they can add a DB or two that can stick or a LB. Or maybe add a return threat who could eventually get on the field this season. Also, camp cuts might help there when the time comes.
Our draft resources this year were used to blow up the CB room, so this is probably going to end up being one of their more underwhelming drafts. Now if Simpson hits big, then it will be a fantastic draft. If not, though, it probably won't be one of their best.

On the positive side though, once again, is the fact they fixed the worst fucking corner room in recent memory. Those boys were that bad. And that improvement in that critical role means the Rams are going to be a very tough out in the playoffs this season.

Key is going to be health. If we're favored there by being mostly healthy going into the playoffs we have a great chance to get it done.
