Yet my reservations with him is his production wasn't great in big games. Being a great athlete doesn't necessarily make a great football player. I'd rather take his safety teammate, Dillion Thieneman. His tape was more impressive to me and we need D lol

But we don't need a Safety

Cade coming in taller than expected with Ty losing an inch.

Before the season I thought Cade was an ideal McVay QB. Not sure what happened this year.
Klubnik is interesting. That entire Clemson team had a down year. Most of their draftable players took a big hit this year. He could be a perfect buy low guy.

Unless they are certain that Bennett is ready to take over as the backup I question if the Rams should by low on any QB.

Outside of someone like Cole Payton, whom a package of plays can be made for, that player is going to get little to no opportunity to show what he can do on this team and would probably just be replaced in the 2027 draft class.

At the same time it would be nice to see someone else in that last preseason game though.:sunglasses:

But we don't need a Safety
Well as many have stated, not true at all. No telling if we even re-sign Curl and as fast as that safety is plus the fact that Lake can man up as a nickle at times, we can technically add another safety/secondary player to the formations especially if that player has speed and range. We need more talent period in our secondary.

I dislike the Ducks. It's hard to watch them. But it felt like he was a great screen weapon. I should watch his full games, but oh hell on second thought fuck that. :laugh2:

What I'll do is if we draft him I'll go back and watch his stuff. Watching Ferg's Oregon tape last year was painful enough.
Amen!
As far as Sadiq, I saw him quite a bit last season. I was a little surprised at his height and speed after watching his games.
He plays more like a bruiser than a speedster, often initiating contact rather than looking for space. Catches a lot of short balls and runs. His tape is very different from Fergusons whose previous season in the same offense showed Ferguson stretching the field more.
I like Sadiq and he may just become a beast.

Its just not a big need on D. We are super deep at safety, with at the very least above average players. Pure corner is whar would actually make a huge impact on defense. Even if we did say upgrade at Safety it wouldn't make near as big impact if we had a true #1 cb

Ps I might add. That if the rams secured Dean in FA Id be ok with drafting a stud safety

I also like the idea of Thieneman at safety, don't think he'll make it to #29 now after his performance yesterday.
He's a stud. I do question why he was never used at CB with that kind of athletic testing. He is more athletic then most CB's starting in the NFL. Wonder if he's the type that can come down and man up on slots like Lake. Having 2 of those kind of guys would not hurt at all, especially when one of them is an all world athlete and can lay the lumber.
Depends on resigning Curl or not since we really have only 3 I think and one of them is a free agent next year. Add to that Lake is mostly the NB it wouldn't hurt especially if it's a good player.
Curl is expected to receive offers exceeding 10m AAV. I don't think I'd pay him that personally. I think he's gone.

Increasingly, I'd be happy trading down from 13.
I think there's every likelihood that a good corner who can start as a rookie and be an upgrade over what we had this year at 29.

I think there is sooooo much top 100 talent at places the Rams specifically need.. that I want a couple more bites at the apple there.

I'd be trading down.. and then trading up with the lower picks. I don't want more than 10 picks.

But.. ILB.. Edge... Corner.. Safety.. WR... and Oline depth.. can all be gotten in the first 3 rounds.
I think the Rams picks could easily lead to keeping 2 first rounders and ending up with a total of 6 top 100 picks.

Agree. Have been looking for trade matches *for CB or WR) but not sure I see one.

At cornerback, I could see the Chiefs moving McDuffie. Just not sure if he is better in the slot, where I would prefer the Rams add an outside-CB.
I'm not sure how to make a comparison of where McDuffie is better at, but I can say that the vast majority of his snaps are outside. 479 at wide corner vs 134 in the slot.

I read last week (don't know if it's accurate) that the Chiefs used McDuffie more Outside this year than in prior seasons; and that he was more effective, in prior years, lining-up in the slot.

Did your source also provide a breakdown for prior seasons?

If Curl leaves, we only have Kinchens at safety since Lake is the nickel back.

You say we're super deep. Who are you speaking of?

2024: 953 wide snaps, 152 slot
2023: 368 wide snaps, 608 slot
2022: 536 wide snaps, 247 slot

He's been a top CB every year, so it's fair to say that he excels at both positions.

I have no worries if we trade for him.
