looks like the Red Sox have started their mid summer slump a bit early

Not a lot of Yankee talk on here lately. You'd think they were playing like shat. 32-15, best record in the A.L., 2nd best in MLB.

Luis Gil pitched yesterday. 4th straight game going 6 IP (4-0). Over that span he's got 24.33 IP, 11 H, 2 ER, 8 BB, 27K (14 of them yesterday) for a 0.53 Whip and a 0.74 ERA. He's throwing pills.

In the month of May Yankee starters have a 2.34 ERA and the bullpen has a 2.38 ERA. Starters have gone 6 innings or more in 11 of the 16 games. The pitching has been stellar and Gerrit Cole is still on the IL. And their offense hasn't got going yet.

Gil has been excellent
Rodon is completely different from last year
Besides Gil, Schmidt has been the most surprising
Cortez needs to get a bit more consistent and Stroman is crafty.

But that bullpen and Holmes have been deadly.

That didnt age well.....
Haha!
Its all good, those things happen
Yeah I was thinking that as I watched him implode. But really.....a dribbler single, walk and an error set him up. But then he got hit hard.

He had nothing, it happens. He has those clunkers from time to time. Anyways, "we're on to Cincinnati"

Luis Gil is on a roll!!! Yankees starting pitchers have now gone 16 straight starts allowing 2 runs or less and at least 5 innings, extending the record they set on Tuesday night.

But Gil? 6 consecutive starts doing that. His line?

6-0; 38.66 IP; 14 H; 3 R; 3 ER; 12 BB; 44 K; 0.70 ERA; 0.67 WHIP; 10.2 K/9

Awesome. Gonna make it tough to send him down when Cole returns.

Edit: I see now they put Schmidt on the 15 day IL (lat), so there's room now.

Glasnow Yamamoto Paxton Stone Buehler Kershaw Miller and maybe May

That's 8 good to very good starting pitchers

And once Yamamoto finds his mojo which I believe he hasn't yet, watch out.

Another well pitched game last night by Stroman. 7.1 IP, 6 H, 2 R. That's 16 out of the last 17.

Yankees 9 game West Coast trip goes 7-2. Win with their sub-starter 7-3. Losing 5-3 going to the 9th vs. SF's closer. Volpe, Soto and Stanton crushed fastballs.....Stanton's, his 1,500th hit (Torres also lined a fastball leading off / Judge walked and an important play, Trevino hustling to stay out of DP). 7 - 5 NYY. Holmes closes the door for his 17th save. Man they're playing well.
