Thanks guys.

Damn, at first glance I don't see this as an upgrade to our roster. I wonder if there's something we don't know about Brodine.
We need centers, and Brodine is pretty much superfluous at all of his positions. He's not beating out Quinn, Hayes or Long and the emergence of Westbrooks makes him the odd man out at DE.

Cook is obviously our number 1 TE, Kendricks is a solid number 2, with Harkey and Bayers emergence that makes him the odd man out at TE too.

He just got phased out.

Wang never had stiff competition?

Wang is playing the right position to handle the ball on every play.

I'll stop...but this could go on all day... Although if it continues for more than four hours straight, this thread should seek medical attention.

Foles is probably going to enjoy a fresh, new snapper. The kid has a lot of heart, and he's going to give the Rams everything he has.

I wonder if they plan to play him at guard. That way they could pull Wang on outside run plays to open up holes....

Wang will rise to the occasion.
Slide him in next to Brown.

The 49ers can't wait to get a long, hard look at the Rams' Wang.

I'm sorry. It looked like so much fun!

Going to be unsettling for the opposing NT, knowing he's going to have Wang up against him all afternoon.

This much is clear. Fisher was in dire need of a snapper, so he grabbed Wang. Which one of you wouldn't have done the same?

Player Background

Was a Super Iron Hokie during off-season workouts … Turned in a 410-pound bench press and a 440-pound front squat … Topped the offensive linemen with 380-pound clean, a 370-pound push jerk, a 35-inch vertical jump and a 4.29 timing in the NFL shuttle

370 lbs?

Pretty impressive jerk for Wang.

I certainly see that as a possibility but there's another factor to consider. He suffered a fractured ankle in preseason and had to get surgery last year and missed the entire season. Did he fully recover? Seems like the Rams liked him and felt he could make the transition to TE last year. What's changed? All those other options you mentioned were on our team last year too.

That injury probably slowed him down, but I do think it just comes down to the fact that we have bigger holes, and now his roster spot can't be justified given that he's nowhere near beating out any of those other guys.

Last year we had a starting center, right guard and right tackle, now all those are up for grabs and we're bringing in a bunch of guys to compete for them. Brodine won't help any of those positions and he can only perform in the 2 spots that are completely solidified on our team. So he was taking up a spot that could be used for somebody to attempt to compete at the other spots, which is why he got the ax for Wang. Last year we had room for seeing if he had potential, now? Not so much.

I hope he lands with somebody whom he can prove himself with, I was actually quite interested in watching him grow.
