I was curious about the LA based fans and what they are hearing/seeing about the two teams.

Do you feel the LA market is dominated by either fan base? I would assume the Rams with the history, but with the shit product we have put out for the last decade I could see people jumping over to the chargers.

There is a Los Angeles Chargers Facebook fan page. But no one has posted on it for 20 months

Isn't Mount RUSHmore decorated by the busts of The Mighty One, Aaron "The Beast!" Donald, Connor Barwin, and Alec Ogletree?

I live just down the street from Banning High School in Wilmington, an LA suburb, (ex-Ram Vince Feragamo's alma mater), and I've been seeing quite a few Ram hats and jersey's. Might just be a fad or a gang related thing (watch out Raiders).

Oh fuck don't even put that out in the atmosphere.......if the Rams get adopted by gangs like the Raiders did I'll puke.

Les, LA gangs are known for their affinity for NFL garb, there are two that are the most predominate, Radiers (Criips) and Panthers, (Bloods). Most of the kids I see with Rams gear don't look like gang bangers.

Born and lived in SoCal for 45 years.
The Chargers Rams will always be the Clippers Lakers and Angels Dodgers.
If you were or weren't a Chargers fan, that's not going to change by their moving 100 miles north.
I suppose if you're 13-20 years old, you might flip a coin, but I do not see the Chargers decreasing in any way the Rams fan base.
I AM prejudiced of course.:shades:

They could end up getting some younger fans if they are winning and getting into the playoffs and the Rsams aren't.

Casual fans gravitate to winning teams. But as far as the lifelong fans I don't see either Rams or Chargers fans switching.

Plus Charger fans aren't that far away. So they will be in the stadium.

You have a metric @$$ ton of Raiders fans who like to wear black 'n silver, probably the biggest fan base in LA. Then you have a good sized group of Rams fans and their families who make up the base of their support. Chargers are a distant third, no doubt about that.

But it doesn't matter at this point. What matters is who is going to be winning over the next five or so years. If the Rams hit on McVay and Goff becomes the franchise QB we need and the defense is dominant under Wade we'll see the stadium open in 2019 with the RAMS having a stranglehold on the market. If they win, they win, basically.

IMO the Chargers are entering a rebuild but don't know it yet. Their QB will be retiring pretty soon, depending on how bad a beating he takes over the next year or two. Their roster isn't really much better than ours overall, it's not like they're loaded, they just have a very good QB and we have a young unproven #1 pick.

I'm a homer, granted, but I think the Rams will be THE team here real soon.

ESPN literally interuppted an interview with Dean Spanos announcing the Chargers were moving to LA to talk about the Rams hiring Sean McVay.

The only people I've seen that give a shit about the chargers liked them before the move. The LA "teams" are the Rams, Lakers, Kings, and Dodgers.. Clippers, Ducks, Angels, and now Chargers will always be the secondary team.

Similar to NY having the break down with the Giants, Yankees, Rangers, and Knicks vs Jets, Mets, Islanders, and Nets.

This was what I was saying during the relocation debate. I'm not an AFC fan, and have never have been. I hate the Raiders, but they have a following since the only Super Bowl win was won by them in LA and they are gang supported (as far as gear etc...).

No one cares about the Chargers, unless they are already Charger fans, or are strictly bandwagon fans. Maybe that will be a little different now, but I don't see LA Raiders fans quitting their affiliation with the Las Vegas Raiders. Seriously, there probably can't be a much better weekend for adults than hitting casinos and watching an NFL game for a weekend experience. Raiders fans HATE the Chargers.

Rams fans from old are probably helping younger relatives to become new fans, but I don't know that for sure. After the first year in LA, the Chargers support will probably be lukewarm at best. IF the Rams put a winning product on the field this year, that timeframe will be even shorter.

I knew about the Raiders but not the Panthers. What's the story there?

I really hope nobody in the gang world take up the Rams, I would really be bummed by that.

No real Charger fan base in LA....they had to hire people to show up at their first press conference...They backed out of a deal to share the Coliseum to save themselves the embarrassment of drawing far less fans than the Rams....

There is a solid fan base for the Rams here in Los Angeles and it's growing....

I honestly expect the Chargers stay in Los Angeles to be a temporary one...

So I had my crew instal some fiber optic circuits in the new Chargers training camp in Costa Mesa.

No one knew what the place was being used for. Just another office building.

When my guys came back with pictures we all looked at them and said "Hey, that's pretty neat! Who was there?" My tech didn't know.

We moved on to talk about the Dodgers.
