I have no idea what is being taught in practice and what players are retaining. But it looks like players missed tackles they are paid to make in the specific case of the PR TD.

I just don't jump to blame the coach on things I don't understand.
yeah you are right about not knowing what is taught in practices but with as many late round picks you would think we would be able to field good special team players. i know our gunners cant get there right when the punt is being caught like i have seen from other teams. oh well i know nothing as Shultz (hogans hero's) would say.

I gotta say something that made me feel good after the game….I saw Kyren Williams on field interview. The reporter was asking him about his emotions as the kick went no good and he said he was happy because he blew the protection on Stafford’s last sack. He acknowledged it was a missed assignment on his part. Cut to Stafford’s postgame presser and a reporter asked him if it was the wind or his hand that caused the 2 INTs, and Stafford said “neither, they were just bad throws by me, I’ve gotta be better”.

When 2 of your most important players completely own their mistakes and don’t make excuses, even if the excuses would’ve been valid….you’ve got a damn good culture in the lockerroom. Damn good. And that’s what it takes to take it to the next level.

On this last one TD -- 58 yards punt ... 4.3 hang ... that's about NFL average and right around Evan's average -- maybe a hair less --- but this one goes maybe 10 yards further than his and league average...give or take. That's 10 more yards (more or less) for gunners to cover with no additional time.

If you punt it 58 yards and get more hang time, gunners can get there. I would just want some questions answered on punt coverage on the breakdowns ...

People can see what they think ... but on this one...seems like outkicking coverage and bad tackling.

Never take win ing for granted in the NFL. Celebrate EVERY Win especially one this important.
Eh, we'll have to agree to disagree. We didn't win here, the Giants lost. We were hot before our mini bye, and it looks like the time off was a disadvantage more than an advantage.

Definitely.
Although, when you’re deep in your own territory, I would think you want to just let it rip and hope they can’t field it cleanly.

Evan’s isn’t JH, but we are blessed to have him.
Heck spoiled us.

Since we’re talking ST.
I would love it if we could grab a return specialist in this next draft. We haven’t had a good one since Tony Horn.
I know it’s not a priority for McSnead, but I wish they would just take a chance on one

sometimes a player is what he is and he as in Joes case benefits from his situation financially.
At the end of the day you have to applaud the effort, he was good enough and is versatile just too darn expensive.

Yeah, I think it’s the $$ that bothers people because Noteboom is a valuable asset as a backup. He’s played 3 positions this season. Granted, LT seems to be his best, but having a guy like that to fill in and spot start is a good thing to have.

Drafting a LT and having that rookie deal would help balance out the $$, but the Rams could also try to restructure Noteboom’s contract. I’m not to saavy on that stuff, but I would try to keep him to play the role he’s playing now

I keep saying that between Noteboom and Jackson, the Rams have one solid player.

Like a fake? I just don't know what you mean by scheme.

If you mean "special" like a fake ... maybe Rams players have not executed one in practice so they don't do it in a game.

Right now I would settle for punter controling his leg a bit better and guys making tackles on returns. Both long TDs looked schematically fine, but I have not broken them down, either. They looked like poor execution to me.

If you want to blame the coach for bad execution, fine. That's your right, but I've not sene anything in Punt coverage and kikcof coverage that looks like a schematic disadvantage.

It's about staying in lanes and making a tackle.
I'd say its likely a lack of talent. We've all seen some starters that aren't good tacklers, or that take bad angles. If its not a coaching thing then its a player thing. The talent on defense is lacking, so the depth players who contribute on Special teams are even worse.

Next year is the final year of Noteboom's deal, and it's pretty massive. I don't see much upside to restructuring it. We should start preparing for the future.

I get what you’re saying. The future isn’t gonna be built on backups, but a big run NEXT season is another matter. The OL has been the biggest strength of 2023 and I personally would not break it up any more than is necessary.

With Dotson due a big payday, maybe it becomes an either/or kind of situation, but the Rams should try to avoid losing both. Obviously, Dotson, being a starter, would be the preferred guy to bring back should it come to that.
