Let me start by saying, I'm very glad that Mason has been so productive the past 2 weeks. He looks like he could be the #1 back (if he isn't already) this year and beyond. Has a nice mix of speed, power, elusiveness, vision, burst, and hands. If he can keep working on his pass pro he could factor into the game on 3rd downs as well.

Benny's been a good 2nd option this year, offering similar things to Mason, in addition to being a good 3rd down back.

HOWEVER I don't think Zac Stacy deserves to be in the dog house. The guy may not have the breakaway speed of Mason, but he does a lot of things really well. I'm still very high on the kid and couldn't help but feel bad for him standing on the sideline all day. You run Tavon up the gut 5 times, yet Zac doesn't get a single carry.

I hope Zac earns more opportunities to get the ball moving forward.

I was wondering if they didn't have a trade in the works and that's why he was held out so as to not get him injured and mess up the trade.

or, he might still be feeling the effects of the calf injury. He has a tendency to be dinged up alot. As long as they have other options, why rush him back.. He clearly wasn't 100% Monday night, and with the short week, most likely isn't all the way back.

Was thinking the same thing Jugger

I'm pretty sure he didn't play because of a leg injury. Even if we did put him in there, he wouldn't be as effective as he would be 100%. Stacy will be our 1B or #2 back once he gets healthy again. I just hope he stops dancing and just look for an opening to run on.

Dude gets dinged super easy. Probably the run style and his body type. That's what I'm guessing.

Dude is a straight baller and gets those tough yards better than any back we have on roster...but healthy being up in the air week to week is always concerning.

It's why I'm a fan of a big nasty SoB RB who brings power, speed, and size. The bowling balls are nice. Mean mofos are nicer. Gurley is a mean mofo running the ball.

I like Stacy a lot but I disagree I think Cunningham cab do everything Stacy can do and better. Not to say Stacy isn't good but as of right now I would have Mason as the starter and Cunningham#2 then Stacy #3

.

this is the reason they drafted mason. you can't count on stacy the whole year or even the whole game.

the rams have built themselves a good group of rbs.

Honestly, I'm fine with giving it to whoever is hot. I honestly believe that any one of our four RBs (Stacy, Benny, Mason, Watts) can be a 1000 yard RB and bellcow in this league. We have a hell of a backfield and any of them can go off for a big game. If that's not Stacy, I'm ok with that. He's still a great back and once he's 100% healthy I expect him to be one of the 'hot' RBs getting carries. There was just no need to play him with the way Mason and Cunningham were tearing it up.

Agreed, the depth we have at halfback is playoff caliber tier.

I think Zac is stronger between the tackles and gets hidden yards that our other backs don't get. His leg drive, low center of gravity/height, and falling forward make him a very productive 1st and 3rd down runner.

You all did see Mason on a particular play miss on his pass protection? He's learning but still needs to improve.

What a conundrum to have at RB. Four very good guys, who do you start? Who do you dress? I love it.

Stacy has one of the best attitudes of any Ram. He'll be a pro about this and realize we can't sit Mason the way he's playing. I wonder if we'd consider a two back set with Zac at FB? With his smarts as a blocker and pass receiver, I bet he'd excel.

I thought he was banged up so they started Mason and would use Stacy if needed, otherwise let him rest.

All four of them bring something different to the table. Nothing wrong with having a four-headed monster to spring on opposing defenses throughout a game. Plus it keeps them all fresh and less dinged up. Who cares if none of them ever have a 1,000 yard season as long as they, as a unit, keep moving the chains and hold on to the ball.
