That's because you rarely seeing kids playing football on the streets like we did growing up.

Had a huge backyard as a kid (so big that a fox family made their home there), and even when I moved, I still had a decent area to play in.

So, to answer your question, yes, I had a Nerf football growing up, but I much preferred the real deal.

I loved the Nerf when I was young--like 7 to 11-- because it was smaller in size and soft and I could chuck it for a mile. A "real" football was hard to get a grip on because it seemed so big and heavy by comparison.

For my generation, Nerf was king in elementary school. We don't use "real" footballs until middle school or high school.

The classic Nerf football was just HUGE in the 70s and 80s... kinda too bad there are so many "specialty" footballs these days for kids.
