Looking through the "history repeats itself" glass, the past Super Bowl winning quarterbacks are for the most part, the superstar quarterbacks. You need the superstar to win it all. Look at the Rams two Super Bowl wins, Warner (hall of fame) and Stafford (most likely hall of fame).

You wanna win it all...go get that superstar quarterback...at all costs! You wanna just be a really good team that has a low chance of winning it all, don't.

Yeah sure - tell Nick Foles that - Super Bowl MVP!!

BTW - imo what a JOKE !! Fisher did his own self in.

I’ll always believe The Rams could have won a Superbowl with him & Case. Talk about F” them picks.

Les Snead was involved SO he doesn’t get a FREE pass.I guess he bailed himself out well & made a lot of us forget.

What have you done for me lately is a positive way of thinking when your winning.

Sean Mcvay says it all the time. Winning in the NFL isn’t easy.Every week is tough.

Keep in mind that Les Snead was under Fisher. The crazy arrangement the Horns had with Fish had him in charge of all football operations. Les has nothing like smooth partnership he now enjoys with the Leprechaun.

I posted this in the "Stafford back" thread...reposting here as it seems more relevant here..

************************************
Listening to McVay talk about Jimmy G, I think there is a real possibility that he could be our starter next year if Stafford calls it quits. That includes that they could easily pass on a QB in rd 1 or at least pass on one with that first # 1 pick. That is unless a slam dunk stud QB falls to them or is within range of a small trade up.

They may see Garoppolo as a guy that can play a few more yrs, so they may take a developmental QB in rd 2 or 3 who they can groom for a few yrs. So I don't see them reaching for a QB and passing on a much better talent considering that McVay seems very happy with Jimmy.
Not at all. The actions say the opposite. They like him well enough to back up this year, but that's it. If they had any inclination that they'd need him to start next year, they would have signed him to a 2-3 year deal. They guaranteed all of '25 so a 2-3 year deal woudnt have affected the cap one bit.

TRUST & relationship are huge. Was Les Snead in his garage when The Rams drafted Logan Brusssss ? That was a Sean Mcvay pool jumping pick.

Last year getting Jared Verse was Crazy.Mcvay wanted the DT that the Hags drafted. It was funny when Snead pointed & Cinncy was on the Clock.
The trade up for FISKE worked out,but it cost a little more than the Value Chart.
—IMO the system The Rams have now the last 3 is unbelievable good. These picks have been spot on.

Les Snead talks about winning the Superbowl in April & They right there the last 3 years. It will help give The Rams a chance to win it all in 2025.

Well, Garoppolo had a say on what contract he would accept. Why lock yourself in as a back up if Stafford doesn't retire. So the contract means nothing. It's a let's wait and see what happens deal for now.

I did say "most" super bowl winning teams had a superstar QB, but not 'ALL'.

Foles is one of the few exceptions if you look at the qb's as a whole for every super bowl in history.

2024 saw 6 QB drafted in the first 12 picks
That was a decent QB draft in numbers and time will tell how they do. I think there was a lot of reaching going on with that class though, and I don't blame the teams for doing that either. But I'd estimate that 3 of them were blue chip prospects.

And lest someone swoop in with the obvious observation, yes this is subjective. Everything we do is subjective.

There's no telling how teams will grade this upcoming class. I'm thinking Manning won't come out but we'll see. But I doubt there will be that many blue chip types at the signal caller position. Teams famously overnuke this position, and they did so with some of the greats like Marino and Rodgers. So the plan should be to pounce on one of those types who gets overlooked or underrated vs the rest of them. Still might miss on the pick, shit happens. But at some point they are going to need to target and make at least a small jump for the undervalued QB they like in the group most likely.

I'd feel a ton better if we had Dart behind Stafford learning right now. Way it turned out is better for this year's title run of course. But that QBotF role has to be weighing big on McVay's mind right now.

Last years SB winner didn't have a superstar QB. If Limmer blocks Carter and Stafford hits Higbee for a game winner, Hurts would be under a ton of pressure this year considering he played like crap in that game and in the wildcard game against GB.

Not to mention those star QBs don't grow on trees and it's not easy acquiring them. Stafford was a very unique situation. The only guy I can think of that could be heading in that direction would be Prescott in terms of an established vet QB that his team may give up on. Now, he really hasn't been a star and has been banged up. Of course Stafford was banged up as well the two previous years before he was traded.

Point is they will likley have to develop a kid and McVay's impatience leaves me to believe he would take Jimmy G for the next couple of years until they develop a young QB or until another good vet shakes loose...Mr Burrow?

For this year having G-String ready to step in is better than any rookie having to step in. I do agree a succession plan for Stafford must be high on McVays list. That starts next year unless Bennet somehow plays a whole lot bigger and stronger this year.

Agree unfortunately & KC’s QB is a good example.

There’s always someone that will bring up Trent Dilfer, but let’s face it. If you don’t have a stud QB, you’re going to be just good enough to lose in the playoffs.

Im in the camp that wants a long term stud at the QB position.
Whatever the cost.
