Snead/Mcvay neglect caring about the 0-line isn't backed up by facts.

Two 6ths and a 7th?

When they pick Atwell over Humphrey, then questioning their neglect of the offensive line is a very fair question.

Plus they wasted a 4th on a very longshot in Harris in the same draft. This happens a year before they knew Corbett was a free agent along with Allen and Noteboom. Instead they waste money signing two of them one well below average OLT and an average oft injured Center.

If myself and a few others could see this coming, then why can’t NFL coaches?

When people are so quick to jump on the narrative that they don’t read the post…

Sigh.

Rams fan: "I saw these problems with the offensive line coming."

Did you?

Rams fan: "Yeah. I knew that they should have drafted Creed Humphrey and that we'd have a problem when Andrew Whitworth retired."

Oh, so did you complain when we re-signed Joe Noteboom?

Rams fan: "Well... no."

And did you complain when we re-signed Brian Allen?

Rams fan: "Not really."

How about when we let Austin Corbett go?

Rams fan: "Well, I expressed some concern, but I thought that Shelton or a rookie could probably replace him."

Oh... so, before the season, when it looked like the OL would be Noteboom, Edwards, Allen, Shelton or Bruss, and Havenstein, you expressed concern that an OL with those players would be a trainwreck?

Rams fan: "Um, no...."

Then I guess you predicted that we'd end up with four starting OL and two key backups on the IR during the first half of the season.

Rams fan: "Well, obviously I could not have known that."

So... what exactly did you see coming?

Rams fan: "THIS!!! This collapse!!! I saw it coming!"

Riiiiiight.....

lol bro you didn't read it.

Those are the Pro Football Focus line rankings - we average top 6 out of 32 teams.

Rams fan: "Not really."

Many on this board have expressed fair criticism for Brian Allen and his re-signing.

So who's MORE wrong-- those criticizing the offensive production or those criticizing the quality of depth in our 5th and 6th string lineman? Open discussion. Go

And what this also points out is when there is an obvious problem McSnead takes care of it. Injuries makes it impossible to know what this year would have looked like but there is still a lot of football left and I can guarantee that if we end the season like we began the o-line will be addressed one way or another in the offseason.

The projected O-Line at the start of Camp was Noteboom (LT), Edwards (LG), Allen (C), Havenstein (RT) and a RG competition of Shelton, Bruss and Anchrum, with Jackson as the #3 OT. Shelton was also the back-up Center.

That was the projected top-eight, All but Havenstein and Jackson have been injured for multiple games.

That's six of the top-eight O-Linemen.

Evans was the 9th OL on the roster. Kolone and Brewer were on the Practice Squad. Aboushi, Skura and Nsekhe were street free agents at the start of the Regular Season. None were in any team's 2022 training camp.

This has not been a "Next-Man-Up" Situation.

Can you think of another team that's been hit as hard on the O-Line this season?

GO.

You're exaggerating to argue semantics? hahaha

This is what this board has devolved into.
@Ellard80 didn't exaggerate at all.

You were factually inaccurate, and Ellard corrected you. Take the L.

You can still argue your point.

Any FO that drafts Atwell over Humphrey and goes into a season with Bobby Evans on the roster is open to any and all criticism at the position group.
They won the Super Bowl the year they drafted Tutu.
They developed a UDFA into a starter in Jackson.
They then drafted Bruss.
They had a solid backup center.

If you want to tell a team their process sucks because their 9th or 10th lineman is a disaster, have at it.

I agree, but would add that Allen and Noteboom getting injured arguably should have been anticipated and planned for. It was very foreseeable. One is made of glass, always getting injured even when playing part-time as a backup. The other has a knee that has been a chronic issue. Remove those two names from the group and it looks far less adequate. If the plan was to rely on Noteboom and Allen being fixtures post-Whitworth and Corbett, I would argue that the cupboard behind them needed to be better stocked. And the Rams knew Bruss would be out for the season before it began (although at that point, decent offensive linemen are not exactly growing on trees). But I agree on the whole. The cluster injuries have been insane. No team can ever really prepare for that...

Asked and answered.

Nicely done counselor but it wouldn't hold up in court.

After the second or third objection the judge would have told you to have a seat.

I was very concerned with going into the season with Allen and Noteboom and right before the season started I told a person at work if we lose 2 OL or more - we are completely screwed. And those two are injury prone. Our back-ups are either very inexperienced or plainly suck (Evans).

Evans should not even be close to being anywhere on the team.

I was hoping that we could get a full season or a majority of the season out of our starting OL but my hopes were quashed after the third game when we had to go with Evans as our guard and Kolone as our center.

I think it boils down to this... should McSnead have anticipated Noteboom and Allen remaining injury-free for an entire season? They may have thought that they had decent backups, because they had Alaric Jackson as a backup swing tackle and Anchrum/Bruss/ Shelton as backups to the guards and center position. But then they all went down, including Edwards! Sometimes it just happens. The line has been practically injury-free for a long time... the football Gods just caught up with us.

Well none of those back-ups have played a full season so is it wise to go into a season with injury prone starters and back-ups with zero experience

And only 1 was picked higher than the seventh round/udfa

That is just asking for trouble
