Now that the Rams have traded Goff (I know nobody cares BUT I don’t like the trade!!!) can someone please explain the Rams current/ up-to-date Salary Cap Situation? Way too confusing for me to keep up with it!!!

Based on Spotracs numbers the Rams are now approximately $13 mil. over the projected CAP, that's about $10 mil. better than we were before the trade.
Expect more wheeling & dealing by Snead soon, hopefully prior to the opening of free agency. Havenstein & Brockers may be on thin ice.
jmo.

Actually it's $24M better because I just looked earlier today and it showed us $37M over the cap.

So the Lions really did take those guarantees... WOW.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I think the site is not updated properly. Goff is not listed anywhere. Maybe because the official trade date isn’t know so the amount each year is in flux (pre/post 6/1). I might be wrong, but I thought at best it’s 22m for a Goff trade.

Have to see how the contract works out. Do we still get hit with $22mil for Goff this year? Does Stafford still count $20mil against the cap this year?

Everything I’ve read, there is no way around the Goff trade hit. It’s 22m if pre June. Is post 6/1, it’s spread out over two years 6 and 16 (rounding) in 2021 and 2022 respectively. But I’m no cap expert.

Stafford- I’m confused if it’s 10 or 20 hit for us in 2021.

YES and yes, nothing can be official till the new year begins.

All the dead money on Goff belongs to us and so does the new money on Stafford.

They have us at -13mil, but they don't have Goff listed in the dead cap area. Can we get out of that $22mil hit? I didn't think you could.

The Lions took the guarantees... which is why he doesn't show up on our roster at all with ZERO dead cap hit.

That's why the Rams gave so many picks...

Think of this like an Osweiler trade...

I don't see Goff listed on dead cap in 21 or 22. Does that mean Goff's contract is completely off the table?

That makes it a little better. Now we're only down $13 mil. Have to see who's next.

I see we have no Goff listed on our page for 21 and 22 but when I go to DET, it shows dead cap for Goff and Stafford for them? That doesn't seem right. Does it?

Yes, the Lions took the Guarantees for Goff.

The Lions got extra picks to take the cap hit and to do Stafford a solid.
