Obviously we need to find out about OBJ's injury, and I admittedly don't know how bad the salary cap situation is, particularly as it comes to the receivers. That said, both Woods and OBJ may be viewed as damaged goods, and not command as much $ as expected on the open market.

Tutu is waiting in the wings and will hopefully develop next year, but I was very disappointed in Van Jefferson's performance yesterday. It was the perfect situation for Van to mark his 'arrival' as a full-time, starting level receiver, and he just did not arise to the challenge/moment. Skowronek is an excellent ST player, but beyond that, I don't expect much from him as a receiver, and he did little to dispel that view during the playoffs. Again, I get a sense Van is going to develop into something beyond a nice 3rd receiver.

Hence, I'm hoping we might be able to pull of a three-headed monster next year, even if it's only one year.

I am wondering if his mind was not entirely on the game with his wife in the hospital giving birth to their first child.

I know Super Bowl but still wife in hospital. You're probably checking with people on the sideline making sure everything is okay.

Very fair point. I hope I am wrong, I was very excited about Van last year, and he's certainly had nice moments thus far in his career. I just was hoping he would have more of an impact yesterday, especially after OBJ went down.

First things first... what's Odell's injury situation?

Go from there.
Its an ACL for sure. He'll be out I would think a decent portion of next year. Silver lining is maybe we sign him to a cheap 1-yr deal now. Would be great to sign him soon to take his mind off contract stuff and just let him rehab.

He definitely needs to be taught to attack the ball when it is underthrown and a DB is going to intercept it.

It does appear that he is lackadaisical on breaking up those passes.

No official word yet, but an orthopedic at my SB party thought it looked like ACL.

I assume we will see Bobby Trees in season opener. Maybe OBJ midway through.

I think they figure out the money. Probably not a lot of other FA suitors while OBJ rehabbing knee.

Breaking up those passes should be the baseline for what he does on those plays, the minimum. He needs to learn to control his body and get into a position to fight for and win those 50/50 balls. It's a skill that's important when you have a QB like Stafford who loves to give his WRs a chance. Plays like that have happened way too much this year IMO.

Actually the injury makes it even more likely OBJ returns. Even with a torn acl, he will be back at or near week 1. He can slowly get up to speed here too.

VJ - idk man. He never goes up to get the ball. Very disappointed in him. Assuming OBJ is back and Woods rehab is going well, I’d trade VJ for a draft pick

Yep and I've noticed Stafford thinks the exact same thing. You could see his frustration yesterday and a few times earlier this year.

OBJ made some bank from all the incentives this year. If he'll be out for a large portion next year then sign to low contract then add incentives again.
Jefferson, yeah, wished he'd fight more for the ball. The pick in end zone looked like he had his balance and could have fought for the ball. It turned out to be a good punt in the end. The pass that went just over his head, he was being held, once again he should have fought more and perhaps get a pi call or something.
A healthy OBJ or Woods and this game wouldn't have been close.

Being over $10 million over the cap before Free Agency begins will indicate some serious work will need to be accomplished in a very short period of time.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Jacob Harris or our jump ball specialist Tutu Atwell make big contributions next year.

There are moves to be made. Whit retiring gets us back in the green all by itself. Plus the carryover from 2021 season. We aren't in as terrible shape as it initially seems.

They could sign OBJ to another incentive deal and push $$ onto the ‘23 cap.
