After 5 winnings seasons and a ring.

ThEy MoRtgAgeD tHeIr FuTuRe!!!

Mocking Spongebob Squarepants GIF

But they have 2 - 7 round picks in 2023??

And starting in 2024 get picks in all 7 rounds again? Sean and Les just signed long term deals what?

What exactly was MoRtgAgeD??

Some people think steady winning seasons with playoff exits is better than a championship followed by a bad season. I'll take the championship every time. That is what they play for and what we fans ultimately want out of our team. Plus, there's no guarantee you won't have bad season if you have all your picks every year. Injuries happen.

Somewhere along the rise of the internet fan, getting as many draft picks as possible surpassed winning titles. And damnit, even if you don't win the title, you do everything you can to do so.

Anyone who says that is a moron. They won it all. That is what you mortgage the future to do and they pulled it off.

Only question right now is whether McVay is willing to endure a quick rebuild, and to what extent the vets are still game. If not then it's a full rebuild under a new coach. And by the way if McVay wants a break from coaching I'd offer him any front office job he wants. I'd make a job over the GM for him if he wants to do that but is worried about Snead. Whatever role he wants he gets. Period. Because he's that intelligent and capable. Worst case he leaves for TV but I'd do everything in my power to prevent that.

Well the point was that the instant the team started to struggle and to the point of injuries where you are swapping in the backup and 3rd string QBs, now "MoRgAtGe ThE fUtUrE!~" narrative is back in full force, except the ironic thing is all the resources used to rebuild "ThE FuTuRe" will be back starting in 2023. They were swapping 1st rounders all through 2016 - 2021. I guess in 2017 "thE fUtUrE" was 2021? LOL.

He'll be back. Getting guys back from IR will rebuild this thing faster.

Not concerned with the big picture; we'll be able to retool our squad with the draft, FA, and injury recoveries. We're in good hands with Kroenke as he is effective in delegating the right people. As long as McVay still has his fire, we'll much rebound stronger in 23

We mortgaged the future to buy the house of our dreams. That's what mortgages are for.

Meanwhile the likes of Cleveland, Detroit and Jacksonville live in shitty one bedroom apartments and spend all day wondering what to buy with the money they saved.

But sadly, they just keep buying expensive gadgets as they stare out at the abattoir across the round not realising it's the fucking house that's making them miserable.

I don't believe the Rams have their 2023 fourth or fifth round draft choices.

WTF why freaking mention it then. I’ll tell you this, winning meanings something. Losing stinks. This game against The Hags was poor.

Wondering if your a Dodgers fan?

I won’t be the one to say The Rams sold out to win just one championship. I also liked how Tutu Atwell played.

I’m also curious about Eric Henderson & his thoughts on things going on with the defense ?

Yeah - let’s see what the NINER’s are buying. It seems every time The Rams want to use addition the Miners always buy it away & have more assets.
So Inguess it’s ok to continue to
LOSS to the 9ers since The Rams won a championship & have NEVER beaten the 9ers at SOFI except for the NFC championship game ?
Best LT,RB & Jimmy G would have been nice to have had. Don’t know the cost, but I’m happy for winning it all.

—To me I WILL BE PISSED if The Rams can’t improve greatly, which I believe they can..

There isn't a team in the NFL that could have a winning season with the level of injuries the Rams have had this year.

That said McVay finally got creative with his running plays and it showed. IMO this loss is on Morris and his stupid schemes. One freaking stop and they couldn't do it. After playing soft the entire season you don't simply flip a switch and tighten it up. They are totally different techniques and require different skillsets. Case in point, had Raheem started Rochell and Durant I bet they win the game. Instead he went with Kendrick and Long two of his worst CBs and neither one can play man coverage. Kendrick is too fucking slow and Long although he has speed and quickness he's extremely scheme dependent and man coverage isn't part of his forte.

Rapp is a strange player.
He is better than Barron in some ways in the Barron S/LB hybrid role.
Yesterday and verse KC, close to the line, he is a play making machine. Out in space, he can't cover and seems to react slowly.
With a specific task he can let his athleticism go and makes plays. Having to read and react are not his strong suit at all.

Unrelated to all that....where would this team be with a healthy (or reasonably) healthy OL?
8-4 range is very likely. Right in the mix in the NFC.
You can only prepare for injuries so much.
Injuries that decimate a specific position group and be bad. Devastating number of injures to the OL that leaves the team starting multiple guys that were not in football a few weeks ago....there is no over coming that. I think McVay could have done some things to help more than he did, but, no team or coach in the NFL is overcoming those sorts of losses.

That's a great way to put it. I wonder how many of those coveted first round picks the losers teams have accumulated and how they've turned out.

Actually...brb, gonna do some wikipedia research.

Uh, Rams were 3-5 before Stafford, Donald or Kupp were ever injured. Dont forget that.

With who blocking for them? OL injuries started early and often.

The Rams did not look good to me at full strength this season. The starting OL was mediocre at best. The secondary has been a problem since 2020. The lackluster ground game (see OL above) and TE depth has been a problem. The fact that McVay seems reluctant to run ANYTHING outside of 11 personnel is alarming. Speaking of alarming, our DC seems to play his "guys" regardless of whether they are the best available players.....you get the point.

There is a lot that needs fixing in the Rams house. A lot. We shall see how this staff and this roster respond to this kind of adversity. Make no mistake about it, this team is bad aside from its stars and a few key reserves.

Still have faith that they can make a few moves and be competitive in 2023, but it wouldn't surprise me if they aren't either.

Jimmy G is done for the season. I can't imagine the whiners can run the gauntlet of what looks like a tough road to the NFCCG and even if they were to make it, they will face the Chiefs or the Bills who will likely slaughter them anyway.

And on the bright side, Jimmy G is gone and the whiners unloaded nearly all their draft picks for Trey Lance (who is injury prone like Jimmy gag) and CMC (who is injury prone). And I believe the whiners will have to fork out to keep players on their defense soon.
