After NE picks C Cole Strange at 29, TV flips to Rams draft central, where MCSead jokingly mock the pick. Methinks they had Strange rated a 4th rounder and may have wanted him.

I'd like to hear your take.

It was not that bad, here it was. All McVay said was: We wasted our time watching him thinking he would be at 104 maybe.

I remember mocking Dallas for taking a center in round 1 many years back. It ended up being a fine pick for them though. So who knows.

Also I don't think they were making fun of the Pats for making the pick. They just seemed surprised to me. But of course nowadays it may end up being called something else.

The Patriots have not drafted well of late that is for sure, but the Rams need to tone it down a tad IMO, although most were shocked by the pick because Strange was not rated in the 1st round, but I'm not a fan of mocking any pick because it's huge for the player. Again IMO, if that is the case, it should be tight lipped and leave the mocking to the pundits.
and for what its worth, Patriots have been pretty successful,

Yeah I agree, was not making fun of the pick, just surprised he went that early. Again, though apparently you can't knock the third best team in the AFC East in the third best division in the AFC.

Whether they were making fun of the pick or not, it came off that way because of the background laughter. So what? Their run is over and the Rams are Champions. Screw New England.
Yep, exactly this. The narrative has already been written. Now you get all the bullshit "never poke the bear" stuff.

I wasn't insinuating that you were making fun of them btw. Moreso that the media will probably end up spinning this into something ugly.

I don't understand where people are getting this from? It's all over twitter... he was saying they spent a lot of time looking at the player because they loved him and was hoping he dropped to them and was laughing about it. It wasn't because they thought the Patriots were stupid for taking him.

On another note, all of the videos last night were hilarious. McVay and Snead are living their best lives... well until social media decides to bitch and moan about something they make up.

I really do not think mcvay was being disengeous there. I feel they thought they could uave an outside shot but Bill and the pats a thorn in the side probably got him to say it a loud. Mcvay always drops breadcrumbs or outright tells us when it relates to players we wanted/want fa draft etc. Even after its said you could almost see sneads bubble pop a bit and he said " strange has one of the best first steps of any ol in the draft" so they just didnt count on him going there. Not innmcvays nature to mock let alone mock belicheat. Beers or no beers.

More interesting to me was that a few other teams GMs without first round picks called Snead asking for advice. Excerpt from ‘The Athletic’ :

With a name like Strange I feel it is a requirement to attend medical school.

I understood that and agreed and again East Coast Bias still exists as even though I don't believe it was a knock on the pick, the pundits will spin it that it was.
