Gordon’s Chat Highlights

—Rams could pass on Robinson by moving down and taking a different OT. They would really have to believe Robinson is at a different level than Matthews to pass on a chance at an extra pick.

—Trade down in the first round and take Matthews first and a safety second, preferably Dix.

—Finnegan? While the Rams say they would take him back, they really hope he signs with another team and gives the Rams additional cap relief. If nobody signs him and it becomes clear that Cortland will be out of work, then maybe the Rams would reach out to him. But it is in the team’s best interest that he lands elsewhere.

—Clowney Going First Hurt or Help Rams? That depends on whether other teams fall in love with a particular QB, prompting offers to trade up. The plummeting Manziel stock is undermining that.

—I see Saffold leaving for stupid money elsewhere. As Jim Thomas notes, free agency is all about overspending. The Rams don’t have the cap space to overspend. The Titans CB Verner is getting a lot of talk because of his ties to Fisher and Williams, but he could get crazy money for B or B-plus talent.

—No, the Rams aren’t taking a quarterback No. 2.

—I would play it halfway with Dahl and try to get him for less, given his high mileage.

–Clowney? Sure, the Rams will be tempted if he falls to No. 2. The guy is a freak. To take him, though, the Rams will need to address their offensive line via trades or free agency.

—If the Rams go down to No. 6, they will a great player. There is not a giant fallout at OT.
