I'm a fan of the owner.

Not a big fan of the man.

But since we're only talking Rams here, he is certainly a significant asset to the team and its success.

It's the whole franchise that is the best in the NFL. An owner not afraid to open his wallet but is smart enough to leave the running of the team to Les and Sean. Meanwhile, Stan focuses upon the big picture things like SoFi and now the new practice facility.

F'them picks Les has broken the NFL as evidenced by this off season frenzy. His team is built so it's now keeping it together, and filling the few holes. Like I said in another post, Von is replaceable. Either with Lewis/Hollins or getting some other edge yet TBD. Les is probably the finest GM you could want.

McVay's real contribution to the franchise is creating a culture that makes top talent WANT to be in LA. The Rams are now a coveted destination for players. An interview with Noteboom really summed it up when he said he never seriously considered anywhere but the Rams. OBJ said it was home....so he's going to stay I have no doubt. Wagner is visiting with the Rams even though he's had offers from the 49ers and Cards. It's the kind of mystic that the Patriots had in their heyday. It's why Les can keep it rolling for years to come.

As long as the Rams have Les and Sean I'm not worried about who is leaving. Les is the F-them picks master who knows how to get talent and Sean knows how to use the talent he's given.

The owner‘s role is to fund the team.

Find the best guys to run it.

Get out of the way.

The Rams have the best owner.

The LA Rams have the league’s best owner.

I don’t think it’s even close.

Stan has deep pockets and he's not cheap. Just pray for his health because owners have non football heirs who can blow everything up quickly. Thankfully we won a superbowl under Georgia Frontiere because she inherited the franchise from her husband, who actually had the Rams as perennial playoff participants.

Stan doesn't quite get completely out of the way, though he totally supports McVay, Snead and Demoff and acts as CEO of the Rams, not as his own GM. In fact he has been totally proactive.

He has actively encouraged, if not directed, the football guys to be aggressive in putting together a winning team NOW. (Not my opinion, Kevin Demoff's.) He gave the immediate fast track approval which enabled us to hire McVay. He approved the Stafford trade on short notice. And he built the best stadium in the world with his own money and without asking for public funding. And a couple of other such items, including moving to LA.

Of course, when he was a minority owner, he may have meddled in the football operation by strongly endorsing Kurt Warner early on to Dick Vermeil. Guess I can live with that.

That's an excellent debate, IMO, Arthur Blank of the Falcons, Clark Hunt of the Chiefs & Steve Bisciotti of the Ravens are in that conversation.

What I love about Enos Stanley Kroenke is, he funded the whole stadium himself understanding the revenue streams he would receive from hosting other venues. He did not do it with a bond or any public investment, it was 100% his money and other stadiums have had some type of public contribution.

The Buffalo Bills are an excellent example, their owner Terry Pegula is asking the State of New York to pony up money for a new Stadium in Western, NY. Pegula could privately fund the stadium, I know Robert Kraft did it in New England, but Pegula expects the State to put in funds if they want to keep the team in Buffalo. So I respect someone who has the means and is willing to utilize his or her own revenue for future financial gain without public funding.

His vast wealth and effective delegation is certainly instrumental to his success in running an NFL team, I'll give him that.

I know some people that are fans of some of his other franchises that have not been huge fans of the way he has run the team. Mostly see things about the soccer club he owns in Europe but most of that was years ago.

I believe he owns the Denver Nuggets (run by his son) and the Denver Avalanche as well.
