What did the niners give up to get him?

Think a 5th rounder.

It's a decent trade for them if he stays healthy ... but they do have to pay him too. And furthermore, even if Williams works out great for them, it won't prevent Grabapole from overthrowing a wide open receiver while having plenty of time in a clutch situation.

All I know, the rest of the 31 NFL teams DO NOT want to see the Los Angeles Rams on their schedule. Rams may not be getting the flashy media attention, but I promise you, the Rams are well respected. That's all I ever wanted from this team. Oh, 49's you still have the 2nd greatest melt-down SB choke job next to the Falcons. Thank you for that! Although the Seachickens not handing off to Beastmode and choking was also really delicious.

Definitely a good-get for the Niners but Williams does not make a weak position one of strength. Joe Staley was still a really good LT.

Trent Williams probably makes LT stronger but he is also well paid, and S.F is not a team flushed with cap space. He will demand, and probably get, a big deal in 2021.

Williams upgrades an already strong position and will be one of the highest paid players on the team.
