I'm driving home from work now, and the gas light just came on. I can make it home easy, that's not an issue. My dilemma is, should I be a dick to Future Me, and make him get the gas, or should I just be be the bigger man and get it now so he doesn't have to worry about it?

I'm pretty tired, and the gas station is a little bit out of the way, so I'm kind of thinking, "fuck that guy. Let him worry about it."

I'm pretty sure Future Me will be a dick sometime in the future, so you're simply paying it forward. Let THAT A-hole get the gas.

Good call. He can get up earlier. Like I said, I'm tired.
 
Present me would go home and ask present wife to get me some gas cause future me is gonna be a prick if I have to get up extra early! Lol then future me will be pissed cause he hadn’t got laid in a week. Lol
 
The way I look at it...Past You was being a dick by sticking Present You with the decision. Past You should have topped off the tank earlier so Present You or Future You didn't even have to worry about it

Counter argument: Whenever one asks for trouble, one ALWAYS gets more than they asked.

"Future me" might wake up with a headache or pulled muscle... or the battery in the car could be dead...or any of many thousand things could happen.

Supporting "future me" is a way of loving yourself.

Sabotaging "future me" is akin to punching oneself in the face because one's nose is running and "screw that running nose"...

Not saying I always support "future me", but that's the goal.
