Really good career, and some very important contributions to the Rams, both in terms of a steadying day-to-day presence back there and some huge splash plays. He'll be 33 this month, and though he could still play, was beginning to decline to my eye. Super Bowl Champ. Long career with lots of earnings. New baby in the family. It makes sense he'd move on. Wishing him the best!

Happy that D-Will walked away on his own terms without us having to cut him. Enjoy retirement, Darious!
I would guess that the Rams front office had a chat with D Will's manager.

Question, do we still get the 7.5m in cap savings or are we now on the hook for it since he retired under contract?

$7.5M savings is still the number. Reality is it's $6.5M as he gets replaced with a $1M min salary guy in the top 51.

BTW, that works both ways. Let's say Curl has a $8M cap hit this year, in reality it only adds $7M because you subtract one of those 1M min salaries.
