Before the season started, I felt we’d be lucky to win 5 games, and was fine w that given our “remodel” and preparation for ‘24 and ‘25.

But considering all the weird bounces, bad calls and just plain bad luck this season, I think this team could actually have been 11-2.

Here is the season based on who “deserved” to win (by taking away the bad luck and bad calls):

Hawks: W
49ers: W
Bengals: W
Colts: W
Eagles: L (W was a reach)
Cards: W
Steelers: W
Cowboys: L (we were no match)
Green Bay: W
Hawks: W
Cards: W
Browns: W
Ravens: W

I feel better now. 11-2. Same team.

Absolutely agree. We’ve suffered from some truly bewildering calls and shocking decisions all season, but we could easily have won every game bar the Cowboys one (agree that the Eagles one is a stretch). Also, we were never going to beat the Packers with Rypien at QB.

If we continue the play the way we've been playing lately we should win the next 3 games. That would exceed my expectations. I thought their ceiling would be 7 wins and floor at 4 wins. We're not at 7 yet but I do expect to pass that the next couple weeks. Been a better than expected season no matter what happens. And bodes well going into next season. Where I think the games we didn't win but should have we will start winning those.

Looks like the AFC will have to stop them as I dont see anyone in the NFC doing it (unless we get into the playoffs).
The eagles can beat them if healthy. That last game had the whiners on extra rest playing on Thanksgiving and the Eagles on a short week after playing OT on Monday night against the Bills.

I'll say it once more since the Ravens vent thread was closed. Lamar Jackson was sacked with about a minute left in the game. He had a empty hand when the ball came out (IMO). (I'm not arguing whether it was actually a fumble or not). My beef is that the refs always get praised by the talking heads for allowing the play to go on as if it was a fumble. (I think it happened to Stafford more than once this season) But in the Raven's game, it was blown dead.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the call is fumble on the field, then it takes indisputable evidence to overturn the call. Would it have been indisputable to overturn that call if it was called a fumble? Jackson for sure wasn't down when the ball came out.

And I did mention that the Rams blew a 3rd and 17 which allowed the Ravens to win the game to their credit after that play.

Not sure, I felt that was an incompletion as his hand was going forward just before the ball came out. I may be wrong.

But regarding the 3rd and 17, the right call there is a blitz IMO. You have to bring tons of pressure and force the quick throw. Some weak ass zone with dudes that can't cover isn't the answer. This is where Raheem's lack of aggression fails in my book.

No risk it no biscuit. When you can go for the Jugular you slit that thing like a stone cold killer.

That is good to hear. I also heard Hurts is banged up.

Agreed, but i think webstill lose against the niners bc its the niners.
We win against Cincy if McVay doesn't abandon the run. Worst game he's ever called in his career.
We win GB if we had Wentz.
We beat the Ravens if we continued to run on our first drive and get a td and then we don't need to try for an extra 2 points (and if the refs did their job).
I honestly don't remember the Steelers game. I was so pissed I must have blocked it from my memory, but I know it was winnable.

The steelers game fell apart after Stafford somehow threw a pick to TJ Watt who was in coverage downfield. I was like WTH?

Alternate season is where ROD had us winning 5 games at most and those same people always pissed off at mediocre performances.

The Steelers game fell apart when we put Zach Thomas in at LT. The way McVay let that kid get abused out there should have been illegal, had to have been one of the biggest mismatches of any game in the league this season. Our offense never stood a chance of moving the ball the rest of the game after that.

I say again look at the play that NY overturned Tutu's TD. That was pure cheating. Look how drastically it has affected the season because that would have been a win.

And people still don't think McVay isn't/wasn't going thru burnout syndrome? All he had to do was play 12 personnel.

lol… most people look at this year as maybe his best coaching job, considering the roster.

Team management is one thing, playcalling and game planning is completely different. His lack of concern over both the QB2 and PK have cost games. His game planning and playcalling IMO were subpar for him in the first half.

Those supposedly knowledgeable people panned this roster in September and now are surprised. I have been adamant all season they have been wrong about this roster. Now they are backtracking, how nice of them. They are exactly where I said in Sept that they would be, i.e. on the cusp of being 10-7 and surprising a whole lot of people.

Had this team had a decent QB2 and PK two positions that McVay took for granted they would be 9-5 now and probably end up at least 11-6 which was my high-end prediction.

To his credit McVay seems to have done some introspection over the bye and has come out more or less back to form. What I'm saying is that the pre-Super Bowl Sean would have never simply delegated the QB2 and not vetting the pick, or taken the PK position lightly. So no I don't see this as his best year coaching. Those media hacks are covering their butts for not doing their homework or not really looking at who Les drafted and where they fit in the roster. The draft was targeted and conducted with a two year plan. That part to me has always been obvious.
