Forgot to mention that I've owned 3 VW vans. Oh, the smoke, the drive-ins, the chicks, the memories. :)

Hippie days, bro. I imagine that was one FINE ASS (bahahaah, stupid pun alert) time for picking up the gals. These days, the chicks would view you picking them up in a VW as the pedo van pickup. :ROFLMAO:

This fucker was/is still my first car. Fugly color, but I get this bitch up to 32 miles/gallon on the highway and that's all that matters these days.

2000_saturn_s-series_4_dr_sl2_sedan-pic-8058295648969632100.jpeg

Not the SEXmobile you guys were toting in your younger days, so no cherries lost in this fucker. Besides, I lost that shit to a pretty Spanish gal 10 years older than me while studying aboard in Europe. :X3::p Experience on the other end does matter.

Anyway, I love me a good car, but I admit to not really liking driving much. At least long distance. My body just rebels against it. If I could/live in a place I don't need a car once I transition into a new career, I doubt I'll spend much/bother buying anything new. Just not worth it these days. And the amount of money you never see pack you put into shit these days? I'd rather travel my ass off by way of Airplane to exotic destinations.

But damned if I don't still get a hard-on for a Dodge Viper. And since this is a car thread, this bitch was my childhood dream car.

You gotta love the attention to detail in giving this thing the lines of a serpent.

Anyway, I'll always be jealous of what was basically my dad's first car. Not jealous of the day-to-day cost, mind you, that maintenance insanity was what forced him to sell to a collector......but shit does this baby trump all as THE chick-magnet.

Cool topic.

1972 Pontiac Catalina, and I bought it for $200 from my neighbor.

Mine should have killed me twice, but I lucked out I suppose. Far too much car and engine for a 16 year old kid.
Freaking tank with a 455/4BBL engine and I drove it like a maniac.

Back seat was HUGE though, and yes -- that's where I lost my cherry.
Miss that car so much.
Speaking of Pontiac Catalina's

My sister ended up with one while in high school , and she absolutely hated it at first , there are four kids in my family , I'm the oldest , followed by two younger sisters , and then a younger brother bringing up the rear

And my parents helped all four of us with our first cars , nothing fancy , but they would pay for half as long as we came up the the other half along with insurance money

Well I was first and got that really cool Pontiac LeMans , it was like 6 years old when I got it , but in great shape , I loved that car , think I paid like $1200.00 for it

Couple years later , it was my sisters turn , all her friends were driving these little sporty 2 doors , even my wife ( before we were married , drove and old Mustang II ) so my sister just assumed she would get something similar , until one day , my parents came home with huge crap brown Pontiac Catalina , and OMG , my sister just absolutely freaked !!!! ,

I can still remember the arguments that pursued , I think she cried herself to sleep those first couple weeks , she even basically refused to even drive the thing

Until one day , her and her friends figured out , you could pile like 12 girls in that thing , and that's when the Legend began !!!

So it wasn't long before everyone figured out , wherever my sister car was , there was usually about a dozen other high school girls there too..................lol

I think my parents ended up regretting ever getting that car , one other thing I'll always remember about that car , after my parents brought it home , when they were cleaning it out , they found this old Polka 8-Track under the drivers seat , the car had a built in am/fm 8-track stereo , but we always thought it was funny and never removed that Polka 8-track from the car , it always remained under the drivers seat and it was still there years later when they got rid of the car

The Catalina was my sisters first car , which became Legendary , the second one is just like the Mustang II my wife had when we were in high school , that was her first car back when we first started dating

My first "car" was a 1969 Ford short bed pick up with a straight six and three on the tree. It was our ranch truck so I started driving it when I was 13. Back then it always stayed on the ranch so I learned to drive while pulling around pipe trailers and loading failed bails of hay and alfalfa seed in it.

As time went on, my dad gave it to me when I was 17 in lieu of being paid for moving miles of pipe and baling and stacking barley and alfalfa hay. Still - it was my truck. When the tranny went out in it, I replaced the three on the tree with a vertical shift kit on the floor. Stupid kid. The thing smelled like engine heat ever after.

The first car I ever got to drive on the streets though and took my driving test in on my 16th B-day was the 1971 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser.

The thing had a 455 "Rocket" engine. It also had fold-up seats in the back and yes.... those are mood windows around the luggage rack. Nothing said chick magnet like those little windows.

I used to cruse through town on Thursday nights and blow away all the "fast" cars. Of course you could virtually watch the gas gauge move when you stepped on it. Sucker was fast though as long as you already had a start. Pretty funny leaving hot rod Chevelles in the dust with what looked like your grandma's family truckster.

And you haven't lived until you have sat in the far back seats of an Olds Vista Cruiser while your buddy does donuts. That's an E ticket ride ri
Ahhh , the ol'e Vista Cruiser , hey , just like that That 70's Show , we got the keys to the Vista Cruiser !!!!

Growing up , we had four kids in my family , although we never had the Vista Cruiser , we did have the Pontiac Grand Safari , and oh yea , I remember countless hours growing up getting haul all over the place in the back of that thing , always thought the fake wood paneling along the side was cool though......................lol

It was also the car I learned to drive in

I love every post in this thread.

My first car was a 1971 Grand Prix with a 400 four barrel.

I bought it in 1980 for $500 and beat the snot out of it.

It was fast, got lousy gas mileage but back then gas was cheap so it didn't matter, sucked in the snow and I lived in Cleveland, Ohio, it handled like it was on roller skates not tires, it had rust spots and rust holes all over it including the drivers side floor but I just used two floor mats and that solved that problem, and I was happy to have it for the year or so I did.

Imagine this car, darker brown, and with rust all over the perimeter and you've got the picture. Oh and Cragar mags. Hahahahaha.......

My best friend in high school , and still today had/has a 1974 Dodge Dart Swinger , it had a 340 engine 4 speed , and I'll tell you , that thing was that fastest car around , you could get that thing sideways in all four gears ,

My friend still actually owns that car , but sadly , that car hasn't run in 25 years and it just sits out in their barn , the mice have made a pretty good mess out of the inside over the years , but at one time , that car was a pretty awesome ride

Yeah, I was in love with mine before I even bought it. The neighbor used to let me sit in it when I was 15 because I said I was gonna buy it from him when I got my license. I was fascinated with how huge it was, how roomy it was, and how tough the engine sounded when he'd let me start it up. It used to have an 8-track player as well, and I started collecting 8-tracks from all over the neighborhood in anticipation of owning it. I remember I had a Loverboy 8-track that I would pump every day on the way to and from school after I bought it. In fact, the first thing I did when I bought it was add one of those $40 equalizer/boosters to the radio and ran house speakers to the back, which I laid across the back window-area. It was so awesome, because it was something I did on my own with no knowledge of how to do it in advance.

Something like this thing.
L11086267.jpg

And I know what you mean about piling people into it. Mine was the known as the party wagon because I could pile 8 people into rather easily for weekend high school parties. Thinking back on it, I can't believe I didn't kill myself or anybody else. That car was so beastly and fast. Donuts all over the city, laying tire marks in every parking lot I pulled out of, racing other kids on the main streets (cops were few and far between in our small town), and just flooring it at every light. It felt so awesome.

Yeah, that's it. I'm looking for another 1972 Pontiac Catalina and I'm buying it. I shit you not.

Thanks for starting this topic, dude. Good stuff.

Also: LOL (I'm getting this off of eBay)

Tell me. I'm asking.

I edited my original post.

It comes from the Sir Mixalot's epic song "I like big butts". It's the opening of the song, it's ICONIC lol. Over the years it morphed into "code" for one guy to tell another guy to check out a womans ass because it's nice, but now because of the interwebs women sometimes know it too.

So if you were walking through a mall with a friend and wanted to call attention to a woman's booty cuz it's nice you say to your friend something like "becky, green" if she was wearing something green to help him spot her or just "oh my god becky" if she is in plain view.

It's a compliment hehe.

Ha. A friend of mine that I used to work with in the early 90's owned one of those and it was STUPID fast. He did all the work himself and it was called Plum Crazy because he painted it dark purple. He had that thing so tuned that he actually broke the back window when he torqued it into second gear. He had giant meats on the back (50's) and bike tires on the front. Ran it raw too (no exhaust, just straight headers). Never heard anything so loud in my life. lol.

Next to the thing I like to call The Special Lady Part it might be the most powerful.

I have to be careful around those kinda things now that I'm dating someone. :cautious:
