I think George Washington stopped to take a leak here once and they decided to call it his headquarters.

Daniel Boone's homestead.

First iron T-rail ever produced. Used to cross the country by rail.

Inventor of the typewriter.

First hotel with electric lights, installed by Edison himself.

The largest unavigable river in the world.

I live in Beverley, East Yorkshire, England.

30 miles down the road is Selby Abbey, completed nearly a thousand years ago.

Within the Abbey is this window
Washington_Window.jpg

This is the Coat of Arms of the Washington family and was installed at some time before 1580. This is the original Coat of Arms of the ancestors of George Washington.

The Arms are properly described as 'Argent, two bars and in chief three mullets pierced, gules' and forms the basis of the modern US flag.

Beverley is quite an old town itself and boasts this modest church (actually a Minster)

The original church was REBUILT in 1214 and then restored around 1716 to approximately what we see now, there were other revisions throughout the 1800's

My wife and I were married here in 2007 as it is our local Parish Church.

Amazing.
Historical and beautiful.
Would certainly help get one into the spirit.
The closest "church" to me is a non denominational in a strip mall set between a UPS Store and a muffler shop.

Sierra Nevada pale ale is the only beer guaranteed to give me a headache. I could have one and be hungover. Great brewery to visit though.
That's strange.
I like most of their stuff.
Great Basin Brewery in Sparks has one called Wild Horse that is good. Like most places micro brews spring up everywhere here.

I live about 10 minute drive from the original spot for Great Basin :)

My view this morning in glorious Northern Lake Tahoe.

I love the Celebration Ale, only available Nov-January. I usually drink a couple while putting up my Christmas lights...I mean what could go wrong.

5 minutes from my house is the on-ramp to I-95.

Pick your pleasure:
Northbound if you're headed to Philly, New York, or any state in New England
Southbound if you're headed to Baltimore, Washington DC, and/or the Carolina's

That's the best I can do, since there's NOTHING cool or interesting in the immediate vicinity.

There are two things of abundance in this area and only one is interesting.

1) Abraham Lincoln sites and museum

2) Corn

The Cliff walk in Newport, RI..... a 3.5 mile walk along the Atlantic Ocean winding it's way behind the infamous Newport MansionsView attachment 19644 View attachment 19646 View attachment 19644 View attachment 19644 View attachment 19646 View attachment 19647
My niece got her undergraduate and masters at Salve Regina... that walk is amazing... and the mansions (I visited them a few times while in college) are so cool (I like The Breakers the most).

Great state, RI!
