It doesn't have to be amazing, but everyone lives near something cool. Share your photos.

About 2hrs from me... Peggy's Cove. Just outside Halifax, Nova Scotia.

OK , you're going to have to enlighten me on Peggy's Cove.

I've defiantly heard of it , and know it's pretty well known.....................for something

But then it just dawned on me , I don't know the for what part , so I Googled it , and I didn't really come up with anything significant

The East Coast is full of coves and old light houses , what makes Peggy's Cove. so significant ?

and that's not meant to sound sarcastic , just that you got me curious now

The Lift Bridge on Main Street in the Village of Fairport has allegedly appeared in Ripley's Believe It or Not because of its unusual construction. The bridge is an irregular decagon, a ten-sided structure, and crosses the canal at a 32-degree angle. No two angles in the bridge are the same, and no corners on the bridge are square. The bridge weighs 345.8 tons, and is lifted by a 40-horsepower electric motor. Clearance under the Fairport Lift Bridge is approximately 6 feet when lowered (this varies from one side to the other due to the slope of the bridge), with a lift of 10 feet 7 inches. At normal water levels, clearance when raised is 16.3 feet, with a minimum at high water of 15.7 feet.

Folks around here are proud of the lift bridge. Personally, I think the engineer was a fucking idiot - just make it higher like the one a quarter a mile away over Parker street, then there is no need to "lift it" at all - stopping traffic and making a horrible fucking racket. It's dumb.

However, a block away from here lives my drug dealer, which is cool. Also, nearby is a chick that sometimes fucks me, which is also cool.

Your writing above the picture was so out of character I thought you were switched with this guy.

But reading below the picture I was relieved to know it was still this guy.

Oh I just lifted that first part from the town website. Went to high school with the homo that wrote that, definitely don't want anybody thinking it was me who penned that tripe. Sorry for the scare.

Yeah I meant the picture of Rollo the bus driver on the Simpsons which is the second pic down, not the first pic of the constipation buster/taster.

The first tower above is Perrot's Folly in Birmingham, England. The second one is Edgbaston Waterworks tower also in Birmingham. They are within a few hundred metres of each other as the crow flies and are said to be the influence for Tolkien's Two Towers.

Tolkien spent part of his childhood in Birmingham. The photos below are of Sarehole Mill and Moseley Bog in Moseley, Birmingham which is a couple of miles from where I grew up and where I live now. It is said to be the inspiration for the Shire as he lived near Moseley.

I think the bus driver is Otto (who likes to get blotto). And I don't get the comparison at all - Otto is a metalhead stoner slacker with a bad attitude and I...um, well - ok I guess I get it.
