In a follow-up to the trade that sent quarterback Sam Bradford to Philadelphia and brought potential replacement Nick Foles to St. Louis, the Rams held private meetings or workouts with five of the six top-rated quarterbacks in the NFL Draft that starts Thursday in Chicago.

Overall, the Rams met with or worked out 30 players, but the five quarterbacks is more than any other NFL team had visit, according to unofficial lists compiled by NFLDraftScout.com.

The only quarterback missing among those rated in the top six was UCLA's Brett Hundley. Otherwise, in predicted pecking order, the Rams worked out Florida State's Jameis Winston, Oregon's Marcus Mariota, Baylor's Bryce Petty, Colorado State's Garrett Grayson and Oregon State's Sean Mannion.

No small feat considering the Rams needed to travel to each campus for those workouts. And it may interest some that Petty was also invited to Earth City for a private interview.

While all this cannot make Foles feel too comfortable, he and those other quarterbacks might like to know that the Rams also led the NFL in interviewing or working out offensive linemen -- 13 in all, including seven pure offensive tackles.

The Rams also had private get-togethers with four wide receivers.

NFL Teams are allowed 30 private visits, but local players do not count toward that total and neither do workouts, which are conducted at the player's campus.

The purpose here is see what players a team spent time and money on to see privately, whether a visit or a workout. This does not count interviews or workouts at the Indianapolis combine, all-star games and pro days.

Take a closer look this unofficial list and see if there is a clue to which player, players or positions the team may draft.

In list of visits below, PV=Private visit; LOC=local prospect; WO=Workout.

TOP 3 TEAM NEEDS GOING INTO THE DRAFT

1. Guard: With Davin Joseph unlikely to be re-signed, the Rams will surely be searching for someone to start. Rodger Saffold is entrenched as one guard, whether it be on the left or right side. Untested Brandon Washington is on the roster along with free-agent addition Garrett Reynolds, but they are not viewed as to-line starters.

2. Tackle: The need on the right side is dependent on whether Joe Barksdale leaves in free agency. If he does, the position is wide open. Even he stays at this point, it might be on a one-year contract, so a drafted tackle would add depth and also help for the future.

3. Center: With Scott Wells a cap casualty, the need there depends on what the team believes the future is for Barrett Jones, Demetrius Rhaney and Tim Barnes. Jones was a fourth-round pick in 2013, but has had injury issues. Rhaney was a seventh-round pick last year and missed the entire season because of a training camp knee injury. The Rams are intrigued by Florida State's Cam Erving, who was a tackle before playing center for the second half of last season.

And yet they have all the top 4 WRs imo and in order:

Cooper
White
Parker
DGB

I'm still of thought we stay at 10 for BPA and likely trade back up for the best O-lineman.

Check out the top of the OL list, how ironic.

which should say something to those pounding the table about certain linemen

the rams clearly picked up something in their research/interviews about each player...clearly scheme fit was very important to them as well
