Best punt return ever. Picking NFC Special Teams player of the week is going to be tough. Hekker, Cunningham, or Bailey?

That play is all Bailey showing off his tracking skills and super elite hands again. Not many receivers can catch that end over end ball over the shoulder like that, that's an extremely tough play to make.

the first time I saw the play, I really thought Bailey was back awaiting gthe punt with Austin, and I had no idea he was assigned to the gunner and then took off downfield at the snap...that mofo fast !!!

True words there. You see guys have problems fielding punts while waiting for them to come down on fair catches. That alone is not as easy as it looks. Never mind running after one coming from behind you and catching it over your shoulder knowing that you have to then turn around and run. That is NOT an easy thing to do. Granted these guys are pros and I only returned punts for one season but my HS coach used to tell me that if the punt sailed and went over my head to get the hell away from it.

Another thing I like about the play is that it gives opposing STs something else to think about on punt returns. No more run as hard and fast as you can right at Tavon, now they have to make sure their gunner isn't peeling off to somewhere else on the field. Every little thing to slow their guys down and give TA some extra time and room to run with helps.

Man - we're really on the same wave length today. I was thinking the exact same thing while watching that play again on Rewind.

Most unusual punt return I've ever seen. Stedman had GREAT hands at WVU...still I'm surprised he caught that the way he did. Add that to Tavon's fielding a punt on the 2 yard line and taking it to the house, you've got two really wild TDs. My Mountaineers are making me proud.

Can't wait until they start making the magic happen on offense as well.

was reading some comment threads on yahoo about this--there were a number of pieces on this--and i kept hearing about how the rams "stole" this from the bears. apparently, 2 or 3 seasons ago, the bears did this in a game and devin hester ran it back for a TD...that is, until it was nullified by a holding penalty against one of his teammates. so i had to point out that since we did it successfully, no one stole anything from the bears, lol.

Somebody on NFL Network was talking about it and said that every team has that play in their playbook it's just that nobody has the opportunity or the guts to call it.

But yeah, it's a pretty popular play with the fans, I think everybody just likes seeing the world champion Hags look like a bunch of sheep running in the wrong direction.

Fish himself mentioned this. Said something about the NFL being a copy cat league. So I guess you could say we stole it from da Bears but yeah - we actually pulled it off so....

Kept telling people that awful 40 time he ran wasn't indicative of his game speed. Dude plays super fast, and after that end around last year for the TD, that was as fast as I've ever seen him run.

His 40 time wasn't that bad, ran a 4.46 according to nfldraftscout and his "official" time of 4.52 wasn't terrible either.

The fact that the Hags have (had) some crazy low numbers allowed for punt/kick returns--- makes it (and Benny's run) all the sweeter.
