Notwithstanding the Raiders demise in recent drafts, but teams, yes, even the RAMS draft based upon need not necessarily Best Athlete Available. If we drafted based upon the best athlete available, we would have 10 QB's, 25 WR's, 10 RB's, and 7 OL/DL and 1 Kicker (Greg the Leg) currently on the roster. Unfortunately, its a roll of the dice with some of these guys. What might be a great fit for one team is a lousy fit for another. I think we should go back to the days of 80-20 Run Game/Passing Game! Three yards and a cloud of dust!

Yet the Raiders still put together better teams than the Rams did most of those seasons. The Rams were better in 04, 05 and 06 because the dummies hadn't completely ruined the team yet. But the slide was well under way.

Such a difference Snead/Fisher have made for this organization.

Carson Palmer trade.

Edit: Actually, they traded a 1st for Richard Seymour for 2011 and Carson Palmer for 2012 1st rounders.

In 2011, New England took starting LT Nate Solder.

In 2012, Cincy took CB Dre Kirkpatrick.

Thx.

well, that explains the Raiders mess in a nutshell.

Here's a theory!...

In every round, our strategy should be to trade into the spot right behind the Raiders!

We can't miss!

The thing is, we cannot miss and not pickup the player that the Raiders passed on.

I don't want anybody to take this as a commentary on the player I won't name here. It's not meant to be.

But...

Suh was also rookie of the year in 2010, has been to several pro bowls, been an NFL first team all-pro a few times, and is (arguably I suppose) in the top 5 for players at his position.

Again, NOT intended as a shot at anybody, but I think Suh could probably be put with Revis on the list of players the a Rams might have been ok ending up with.
I was for the Rams taking Suh. Happy with Sam though! We needed both, only can get one.

I was watching a show about the 1983 draft yesterday.

Dan Marino inexplicably fell to the 27th pick, Miami Dolphins, one spot below the Raiders.

Rams traded up to 2 and grabbed Eric Dickerson.

We all know how Marino dropped in this draft, and how it affected all those teams that passed on him, but I never considered that the Broncos could have just taken Marino and kept all the other picks and players they gave the Colts for Elway.
