That right there is funny. You hafta' post a vid.

True story. Rox was crazy about lettuce. I actually had her stay, put a half a burger patty and a pile of shredded lettuce on the floor, said OK, and she not only inhaled the lettuce, but ignored the meat.

My dog the Vegan. :palm:

OK. I freaking give up. Tried to quote your post, but I guess there's just some things you cannot do on your phone.

Anyway Pancake, "Good on ya' mate", seeing as how you got a Queensland mix.

That's (gonna' be) one smart dog.

It'll be three months (since losing Rox) when I get home from the Seattle opener, and I'm just going to tell Mari "grieving's over, we're getting another dog".

We'll see how that goes. (Married guys'll get that). I really, really miss her, but also, (and this is "honoring the (previous) dog") don't much like living without one.

Save to your hard drive (like my pictures or documents), come here, go to add attachments at the bottom, attach the pic from where you saved it.

cheers

NATIONAL DOG DAY
A dog is man’s best friend

National Dog Day is observed annually on August 26th.. This day encourages dog ownership of all breeds, mixed and pure, and embraces the opportunity for all dogs to live a happy, safe and “abuse-free life”.

Dogs give us companionship, they keep us safe and they aid those in need. It is a goal, for many on National Dog Day, to find homes for all dogs in need of a loving family. The goal of the National Dog Day foundation is to rescue 10,000 dogs each year.

For more information on National Dog Day, see http://www.nationaldogday.com/

CELEBRATE

Use #NationalDogDay and post photos of your dog on social media. Take your dog for a walk. If you do not have a dog, ask to take your neighbors dog for a walk.

My wife actually asked the vet if eating fruit and veggies would cause Harley any trouble. The vet told her it was fine.

It is weird seeing a dog eat that stuff though. When I get home from work my dog is waiting and he leads me directly into Rasta's room so I can put both of them on the back porch for their daily kiwi. LOL

I have Fried Egg Friday for those 2 every Friday. I fry up 5 eggs... Harley gets the yolks and Rasta gets the whites. I swear that they somehow really know when it's Friday even before I bust out the eggs.

The bottom line is ... They both have ME trained very well.

Quick update. The little guy is in good shape. No hip problems after all. He's just a clumsy puppy. The diarrhea is caused from worms but they gave him some meds for that and he should be fine.

One thing I found out about him is that he's a great mop. He clamps on to out weener dogs tail and she just walks around on the hard wood floors like he's not even there. Does a fantastic job of dusting....

Havent been posting in this thread cause in all honesty its a very sad topic. I love my Alice more than anything in the world. She is only 4 1/2 years old but I still worry about her when she gets up in age. Besides an ear infection she really hasnt had many problems. But I know one day the problems will come and it will hit me more than anything else.

This is my favorite pic ever. Only time this happened. I was awake for like an hour but didnt move because she was asleep and it was so awesome.

Good news Pancake.
Great pic Tron. You have a LOT of great years ahead.

Yeah - obviously the original post was sad, but this has become a great thread, and it's made me feel better.
That's just the power of dogs.

Hey all. Say hello to Shadow, a 2 year-old lab/border collie mix. He's a rescue we're in the process of adopting. Kind of a cool story actually...

shadow.jpg

Mari and I have an acquaintance, Scott, who we'd see with his golden retrievers when we were out walking Rox at a nearby park.
Turns out he works with, (and fosters for), the Golden Retriever Rescue of Southern Nevada, and was aware we lost Rox several months back.
So he ends up with Shadow, who's had a rough go of it, as part of a group of 13 dogs that some asshole retriever breeder basically dumped at a local animal shelter.
He actually named him, and really wanted to keep him, but his girl friend, (as in cooler heads prevail), gently reminded him that he already had 3 dogs  , and asks "what about that woman that had the black lab?"

Anyway, long story short, he left a note for us yesterday, explaining Shadows situation and would we be interested?
Mari said she'd think about it, (which surprised me a little:yess:), and he brought him by today. Very sweet dog, just needs some love, which he'll get a lot of.
Sometimes the the planets align, so...nothing's ever certain, but we should have a new pal in a few days. Think good thoughts, and give your dog a hug.

That's a good looking dog. I bet he's a smart one with those two breeds mixed in. Hope it works out and he becomes your newest family member.

It's been a rough couple of days for us. We know we have to stop Harley's suffering. My wife is a wreck.

He has a large tumor in his abdomen that has finally gotten to the point were it prevents him from getting around like normal. Harley is almost 16.

We gave him the best we could. This is so hard.
