Watch this before you comment on Singleterry not helping or benefiting us. Tell me after watching this video that when the 4th quarter comes in a grinding type of game or it gets late in the season or in a playoff game him on the sidelines would not benefit us... Emotional leader would help our D and especially Barron, Tree, and Ayers not to mention devolving our young Guys for a year...!

I can't stand Ray Lewis, not because of the whole murder thing (he didn't kill the people) but because he always comes across as SO insincere, he is a fraud.

Just don't let him talk to the press.

Should be good for Ogletree, tho.

Good thing we do not need any help on the offensive side of the ball.

Probably just signed him for more entertainment on hard knocks the more F bombs the better and you can't beat a good mooning.

meh....as an "advisor" I dont see this as much of a big deal.

As a positional coach, where he eats, sleeps, and drinks with a position group, then maybe the intensity and passion he brings would matter and I would be all for it.

But as JAG.....I dunno how much this can impact anything. Strange hiring to me.

Color me unimpressed.

Not upset, mind you. Just unimpressed.

My reasoning?

Singletary was a HOF player, but just a so so coach. Do we really need a so so coach?
I think MS relies on too much on emotion and too little on technique as a coach.
How many LB coaches are the ideal scenario, anyway?
Too many voices in Ogletree's ear might be counterproductive, unless they're all saying exactly the same thing.
And if they're saying exactly the same thing, wouldn't Singletary's voice be redundant?

I'm in the corner with others who've said that this looks like a Fisher favor to Singletary to provide him with a foot in the door for a possible re entry into the NFL coaching ranks.

All professional sports have numerous examples of great players making mediocre coaches. Different skills entirely.

I like this hire, how can you not? Alec Ogletree will benefit from Singletary and he be all pumped up to kick the 49ers ass.

Mike was a crappy HC, but one of the best ILB's to ever play the game. If Fisher and GW think MS can help with the ILB"S more power to them.

Agree.

Adding a HOF player to help coach our team sounds like all upside.

If you saw the interview (above) with Singletary and Ray Lewis, It would appear that Lewis holds Singletary in high regard as a Coach! Just saying!

That was a great interview, 51.

Yeah, my impressions of MS as a HC might be tainting my opinion of him as a position coach or "advisor"

I will say this. Fisher seems to know what he's doing on D matters, so I'm gonna stfu with regard to MS and watch to see how he works out. Both Singletary and Fisher deserve at least that much.
