Just a thought....but I’m going to keep an eye on a possible trade involving Tavon and a pick or two to move up.

Just a thought.....

Flame away. :sneaky:

No need to flame, it just wouldn’t make any sense. After Tavon restructuring his contract, his dead money cap hit equals his cap hit so he’s essentially free.

Pretty sure no one is going to be available who can beat a free Austin.

But, in a trade, would the cap hit and dead money be transferred to the other team as well? Or, does dead money stay regardless of player trade?

Tomorrow is Christmas morning, but we have already opened up our gifts from under the tree. Just the money from Grandma in the stocking over the hardly used fire place remains. I hope we spend it well.

Maybe we trade our 3rd, two 4s and a 6 to move up into the 2nd. Or we can move up in the 3rd with the picks we have. I think Les has done trades the last 3 or 4 years on draft day. A part of me thinks he gets off on that. So my guess is that trend continues and we move up into late 2nd or earlier in the 3rd.

Which according to the draft value chart means if we packaged our 3rd and all 3 4th's we could trade as high as maybe #59 to the whiners. That's according to the chart and not including future picks or current players.
Trade 3 4th rounders to move up 28 spots? You say that like it’s a good thing.

No I've been saying for a long time we won't trade up. I was pointing that out for the people who think we can trade into the 2nd round even high 2nd round. Point in case the comment right above yours. I don't see any trade up happening unless it's a spot or 2 and one of our 6th rounders gets it done and even then I don't see it happening.

If Snead really wanted to move up for a player sliding that they truly covet, I could vision him offering a 6th #176, a 4th # 111, their 3rd #87 and a conditional 3rd round pick in 2019.

How far can they maybe trade up with that offer?

Pick #87 worth 185 points
Pick #111 worth 72 points
Pick # 176 worth 20 ponts
2019 conditional 3rd round pick worth approx 104 points

Total points combined = 381

Maybe that gets them up to around the #50 to #52 overall pick?

#50 Pick is worth 400
#51 Pick is worth 390
#52 Pick is worth 380

All I know is that if Shaquem Griffen is still on the board in the 3rd, I will be on the edge of my seat like no other 3rd rd pick...

Only problem is that future picks are usually devalued by a round. So the 3rd rounder next year would be worth a 4th this.
So instead of 104 points for the future 3rd, it would be worth 38 points.
315 points instead of 381

But if it means getting the LB they really want, it would be worth a free Tevon that doesn't see that much of the field.

If there is any market for a Tavon - and he could be part of a trade to move up from R3.87 to late 2nd/early 3rd to make sure we get an EDGE starter (Nwosu, Sweat, Ejiofor) - then I bet its being considered.

The three eyed Raven tells me this too...He isn’t worth a 3rd unless there are desperate needs for him in the East. We shall see.

IMO these stats have questionable application at any time, and even less in a draft that is very deep and strong in the middle rounds.

IMO if anything a strong draft drives the costs up to move into the 2nd and 3rd rounds because the players there are better. The value of day 3 picks would drop.

Thank you.
Also lessens the value of conditional pick next year for same reason

Well one thing we know for sure..........

If there is a player Snead wants that could be had in a trade up higher into the 3rd or into the 2nd somewhere he will make the move if he thinks that player won't fall to him. Especially knowing he is going to have 2 comp picks next year in the 3rd round (IIRC).

That's "free money" in his mind I'm sure of that. And while fans would probably complain about giving away future picks the cost has already been paid and Snead is a forward thinker. It would fit within his draft day mentality.

I don't see how the Rams can trade up into the second round of this draft without giving up their 2019 first round pick. Snead can do a lot of things but he is not a magician.
