I actually Googled this the other day. Zack Thomas of the Panthers has had 3 acl surgeries on the same knee and is now playing the best football of his career.

Thomas Davis, but yeah. Davis is playing great great football and he has to use his legs and run a lot more than Bradford does.

Were they minor surgeries or major?

Let's go back to Faulk, he had scopes in back to back years, missed two games and was back on the field in two weeks without missing a beat. In fact it makes those two years even more impressive IMO.

So a lot depends on what the docs had to do once they got under the hood.

They were three major surgeries. 3 acl tears same as Bradfords injury. With a little bit of luck I think Bradford can come back and be the bamf we all thought he could be.

Holy crap that is amazing, you'd think after 2 a LB would be finished right.

I want to bring Sam back. Call my a mom or a fan boy, but the guy has too much talent just to throw away. He spent most of his career here on a crap roster, now that the team is good he is hurt. It sucks, but I hope we get to see him next year lead us to the playoffs.

Did Davis also have a significant shoulder surgery and torn up ankle?

The injuries keep mounting.

The thing with knee injuries, is that you can't count on the same thing happening from player to player.

Sam may come back stronger than ever.....His knee might also just be weaker now forever. And when you have issues with one knee, you start compensating with the other. I speak from experience in that.

I basically view Sam coming back and being able to have a pro-bowl season now as 50/50. His knee is either going to hold up or it won't. At all. And he'll be a spot backup the rest of his career.

I wouldn't know were to put Sam's odds at, until I see the O-Line fixed! But, because I Like him I'll put them at 65/35 right now!

The thing about making the decision to move on at QB, is that there has to be someone better to come in. There just aren't starting-calibre QBs hanging around waiting for a shot. We have to at least bring him back for a look, because if we don't, what the fuck are the alternatives?

Sam had the ACL and MCL on the first one and just the ACL on the second one. Is that what you are thinking of? Because I'm not getting the third ACL.

Sam's issue wasn't that he got hurt again, but rather he came back entirely too fast. A nothing hit knocked him out of commission.

I would LOVE if ACL tears were treated like Tommy John. Get cut, 1 year rehab, 1 year to get back to form, year 3 100%.

Sam would benefit so much from having a full calendar year of lifting weights and throwing in 7 on 7 drills and never, ever, ever getting hit. The, after Dr. James Andrews can look at his bionic knee and say "Sam, you are now 100% again, go forth and dominate", Sam can return to a team and try to resurrect his career. It would never happen, because ultimately the NFL is a meat grinder that doesn't give two shits about the health and well being of its players, but in this instance it would be best for everyone involved, but most importantly Sam.

At this point, I'm less worried about long healthy career than I am next year. Next year, we really don't have any better options (and selling our future for one of the top two, especially Winston, is NOT a better option if it's even possible.) Bring Bradford back, have a 1A QB waiting in the wings if possible and if he gets hurt again, just let his contract expire.

I was about to say holy shit, Zack Thomas is still playing? lol but I saw that you meant Thomas Davis.

I want Sam to come back and play well so much. He's a great guy and has been through a lot the past few years. Way too talented to end up a waste.

There's zero proof of this...but i tend to agree with you. I was surprised at how early he began throwing and practicing last summer. As a fan i chalked it up to modern medicine and Sam being a young man. There was quite a bit of pressure on the team to get Sam ready to go. Same with J.Long.
I get the feeling that all the pressure to get football ready this time around is solely upon Sam and his agent. I doubt they're getting as much pressure from the Rams.
