So...

I come home Friday afternoon and noticed my neighbor's driveway was drifted in with snow due to snowfall on Thursday, then winds on Friday... A good 12"-16" deep across a wide stretch of their driveway. They would have been unable to get the car into it.

This particular neighbor uses a plow company to clear their driveway. The way that works, after the snow stops, the contractor comes and plows you out.

In this case, however, the snow was on Thursday... So the plow already cleared the driveway. It's the wind that filled it back in.

Anyway, I don't use a plow company. I have a large snowblower and kind of enjoy using it. So I cleared my driveway and theirs.

About 30 minutes after I'm done, the nieghbor (wife/kids only) comes home. Backs right into the driveway. Doesn't even know I cleared it. :sneaky:

As it turns out, as I type this message, the husband appears gone for the weekend as his truck hasn't been around.

I don't hardly talk to these neighbors, but they seem like a nice family. I guess they'll never know I helped them out this weekend. :)

Anyone else do the occasional good deed?

Good for you. Good deeds for my neighbors? The Addams family, the Munsters, the Hatfields and the McCoys? They'd probably shoot at me if I was in their driveway. :) I do feed the stray animals every night though. Cats, dogs, skunks, possums, birds and whatever else stops by to munch out. I should put a video camera out there.

That's the best kind of Karma. The kind that only you know about. (y)

As far as mine, I just do little things to build up my karma savings. Most recent was picking up a couple of soldier's tab at a diner down in Charleston. I didn't ask them if I could. I just told the waitress to bring me their bill when she was bringing me mine, and I paid them both. Didn't tell them about it either. Just thanked them for their service, shook their hands, and walked out the door. Those dudes need to know they're appreciated all the time.

Well, I don't have, or need a snowblower. Thank God. But I do have a badass leaf blower. I just walked back into the house after blowing off my driveway and my neighbors' driveways on both sides of me. Funny reading this thread after just doing that. We have huge oak trees that are constantly dropping loads of leaves this time of year. Our landscape guys are here on Wednesdays,,, by the weekend the leaves are back in full force. I'm very friendly with all of my neighbors except for one. I'm sure they appreciate it. I know they put up with some serious screaming from me during Ram games. Hahahaha

I have several elderly widows that live within a 4 house radius of mine. I am constantly mowing lawns, pruning trees, fixing this or that when they are here during the summer months.

The lady directly behind our house is 86 and lost her husband of 65 years last year. They had 5 daughters and Mary tells me every one of her son in laws are worthless to have around the house. I don't think any of them like me to much lol

As a young man I had hit a rough patch. I was between jobs and no one seemed to be hiring. I was down too my last 20 or 30 dollars and it was close to rent time. I was depressed. Had been for a while. It was particularly bad since I was to proud and stubborn to ask for help. For some reason I got it into my head I needed to treat myself in some way to try and shake my mood. So I decided to treat myself to a burger. Yep it was that bad. Now my common sense told me I needed to hang on to every dime, but I did it anyway. I had just gotten my order and set down when this guy walks up to me. He looked rough, rougher than me. He gives me his sob story and tells me he is starving to death. Could I help him? Being my fathers son my first instinct was to tell him to get bent. But I didn't. I reached into my wallet and gave him my last dime. Go get something to eat buddy. I watched as he ordered then sat down and he ate like it was Christmas. .I got up and left in one sense feeling pretty good in another cussing myself as an idiot. Then something strange happened over the next few days the flood gates opened. I received a card from a great aunt with a check in it. Hadn't seen her in years. Said she was thinking about me. Manna from heaven? Then all the jobs started opening up. I had my pick. Within a few months I was back on my feet. Doing great. Now maybe none of this is related. I never saw the guy again. But I have always wondered.

Great story.
