I'm not sure that I do. Perhaps I need to think about it a little more. But if I was a parent or coach, I think I just might instruct the kids to steamroll that catcher next time they are coming home, and she just might think twice before doing again. What do you think?

I always steamrolled the catcher if they were blocking the plate. I played catcher and got plowed more than once. Not sure she was blocking the plate though. That's a nasty bitch. Impossible for that ump to miss that both times. Not sure that I've ever seen the atomic elbow thrown in a softball or baseball game... we just saw it twice and so did those guys in the stands.

Trucking the catcher isn't allowed in some leagues. Like my old softball league... I found that out after the fact. :heh:

My sister would have got up and beat the shit out of her.

My sister would have got up and beat the crap out of her.
I think if another kid pulled that stunt on my daughter I would have been paying a visit to that kid's dad.

Elbowing is pretty dirty regardless of the sport, if I was the ref I would have given a warning and the second time probably tossed her. If I was the coach I'd have told them to charge her ass for pulling that crap.

The most important part of being a coach or an umpire, especially when dealing with juveniles, is creating a safe environment. The moment a coach on the team hears anything from any of the girls about an elbowing catcher that coach needs to be having a conversation with the umpire. The coach's job at that moment is to get the umpire to watch for this sort of thing and hopefully issue a warning. Watching the video and making assumptions, I see two teams that need new coaching staffs.

I must be getting old, my first thought is bad coaches.

I think you let the first time slide. Second time I would have wanted a beat down on the catcher. That may be too old school, but you can't let that slide.

In most baseball leagues you can't run over the catcher but the catcher cannot block the plate either. The rules have really gotten sort of silly in this regard. The catcher will sort of startle the line and the runner will try to squeeze by....its a play that doesn't happen much now anyway. A lot of fake tough BS is all youth sports, baseball/softball is no different.
As Lazy said it comes down to coaching. A good coach would bench her after seeing that.

Women are a lot more restrained than men. I gotta think if that sort of thing happened twice with guys, the benches would have emptied.

Yes. Eject.
However. The problem I have is with the coaches. If My catcher pulled that shit she'd be on the bench.
Not the first time, but the second time was more than obvious. She has no business standing in the base path.

I've always taught to stand in front of the plate and let the ball continue to the glove and sweep beside you into the base-path. Safe and quick.

She is not even playing the position correctly. The spot you want to be in as a catcher assuming it's a good throw is directly in front of the plate where the baselines come together.

As far as it being dirty, hell yes it was. There was no play and she is crowding the line anyway and throwing elbows. Get the f*ck off the field with that shit.

That's the kind of play that empties dugouts if it's men.

I really thought the second girl coming in to score was going to take out the catcher. Didnt have to run her over, just sweep the legs out with a slide..or just pretend to trip and fall into her LOL

That little bitch should be benched, kicked out of the league, and made to apologize to every member of the other team. I'm not into being sweet to opposing teams and all that BS but that is just being a shitty person. And it doesn't end with the bitch catcher. Her coach knows she's doing it, the other coach knows she's doing it, no doubt her parents know she's doing it, and that is a play at the plate. There is absolutely no reason for the umpire to not catch it happening.

I can just imagine what kind of useless fucks her parents and coach are. In fact, I am going to guess that they are one and the same.

Blocking the plate is one thing, which actually isn't even allowed unless you are making a play on the ball or already have the ball. That is the same as punching a runner on their way by and in fact, the elbow has far more blunt force than her fist would have.

If it were my kid being elbowed, I'd be on that field in a heart beat.

Well, nasty as it is, my next runner is sliding at home with the ol stiff leg and cleat to the knee. Poor catcher would recover in a couple months and maybe even still want to be a catcher. Of course, I'm having a conference with the ump and the other coach first to ask if that tactic is still going to be allowed or still deployed in that game.

Would have instructed my daughter to yank that bitch down by the hair and proceed to drop a knee onto her throat. Then take a fat dump on her face for good measure.
