There had to be charges if he was arrested and released on bail.

Not in California. If the police are called you are booked and charged. They sort the facts out later through an investigation. I find it strange that no chares have been filed since. I think, based on that this is not a "cut and dry situation". California is one of the most proactive states in terms of prosecuting DV.

A friend has cancer and is going through a really hard time and they have him on steroids. One night he was so depressed and the steroids were making him rage, he was threatning to put a gun to his head. His wife tried to stop him and he pushed her away and she fell down near the front door right when the cops showed up (I guess a neighbor had called them). Turns out the gun wasn't loaded, so they take the gun from him, and they arrested him for DV. He spent 6 days in jail. The wife was begging them not to take him. He missed medical appointments due to this outburst. The DA dropped the charges due to the medical circumstances. He's not doing well and I don't know how long he has with us. He's really sick, scared and has lost 60 pounds. But, yes, Calif they don't mess around with DV at all.

We learned that Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer was arrested on Wednesday on assault charges stemming from an incident with his wife and more details about the arrest came to light on Thursday.

According to police records, via the Arizona Republic, Dwyer and his wife got into an argument on July 21 that segued into Dwyer trying to kiss his wife and remove her clothing. She bit his lip after requests for him to stop were ignored and Dwyer allegedly head-butted her and broke her nose. Neighbors called police, but Dwyer’s wife told officers that only she and the couple’s son was at home. She reportedly left with the child later that night, but returned when Dwyer “sent a text saying he did not want to live anymore along with a picture of a knife.”

The next day, Dwyer allegedly punched his wife during another argument and threw a shoe that hit the child in the stomach. Dwyer’s wife left Arizona that night and, according to police, reported the incidents when she safely arrived in another state.

Dwyer has been deactivated by the Cardinals and the nature of the allegations, to say nothing of the enhanced spotlight on domestic violence issues, make it hard to see that changing anytime soon.

Sounds like one of those, if she doesn't leave, she'll wind up dead relationships. Way too many guys in the NFL need to see shrinks. Lotta mental instability or just plain idiocy going on.

Another NFLer that's a football player because it helped put his aggression into something constructive, but eventually even that doesn't keep him from going insane on somebody or something. The culture around football definitely needs to change, if it's not entitled children that have never heard the word no and react negatively to it, it's a bunch of overly aggressive bullies trying to use it in lieu of actually learning to manage their anger and aggression. We're just a few incidents away from a Gilbert Arenas bringing guns into the locker room. Things need to change, because the NFL is getting exposed for how ugly it really is really fast and ruin it for the guys who genuinely love football.
