Love the cricket, went to the test match against West Indies at headingley. Only thing I can support England at guilt free since we don’t really have a team.

First test there started really encouragingly for England before getting away from them. Hoping for a competitive series.

What's Cricket? Is that like badminton or something. Should I ask my Grandpa about it?

Australia shown up for what they are today, a bunch of absolute whining cheats. Awful behaviour.

The actions of our National Cricket team have I assume given the above user whom I ignore for his blatant Australian bashing reasons to mouth off.

Shameful, disgraceful act by the Australian Cricket team. Smith, Warner and coach Lehmann all need to be banned for life and the young Cricketer Bancroft severely reprimanded.

The Australian public and former Australian Cricketers are outraged beyond belief down here.

For those who don't understand cricket ...

Just another sporting team for which winning is everything and playing within the rules and setting a good example are not important. To me and I'm sure to many other sports fans - the most important thing is to try your best and play in the correct fashion - yes the result is important to us but only if it is achieved within the rules.

I am so angry at this.:mad:

It is not the first time this has happened and the holier than though English are not immune ...

Michael Atherton in 1994
In the "dirt in pocket" affair, then England captain Michael Atherton was accused of ball tampering during a Test match with South Africa at Lord's in 1994 after television cameras caught Atherton reaching into his pocket and then rubbing a substance on the ball. Atherton denied ball tampering, claiming that he had dirt in his pocket which he used to dry his hands. He was also accused of lying to the match referee. Atherton was summoned to the match referee and was fined £2,000 for failing to disclose the dirt to the match referee.

Anderson and Broad 2010 incident
In January 2010, England bowlers Stuart Broad and James Anderson were accused of ball tampering by rubbing the ball on the ground with their spikes in the third Test Match against South Africa.[19] Broad maintained that was just being lazy, because it was 40 degrees Celsius in Cape Town that day.[19] Andrew Flower said in his defence that "the scoreline suggested that there was obviously no ball tampering."Nasser Hussain who had captained Anderson said: "Stuart Broad and James Anderson were wrong to behave in the manner they did and I've no doubt that if a player from another country did the same we'd have said they were cheating."No charges were formally placed by South Africa even though they made the accusations at a press conference.

Does Baseball have a similar issue with ball tampering to gain an advantage?

As far as I know, it has happened. I remember the Red Sox/Cardinals world series a few years back when the Cards accused Red Sox pitchers of using pine tar. I think it would be rubbed on the underside of the peak of the cap, the pitcher would then touch that when adjusting his cap or when "tipping" it to confirm he'd received the signal from the catcher and then rub it on the ball while its in his glove, pre-pitch.

There must be other, more prominent examples in baseball. This is just one I remember having observed the sport from a distance.

I expect ball tampering would come below corked bats and steroids when it comes to cheating in baseball.
